Alopecia areata occurs when the body's immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair to fall out. Androgenetic (or androgenic) alopecia, on the other hand, is an inherited form of hair loss. With alopecia areata, hair can fall out in patches all over the body. With androgenetic alopecia, hair on the head first thins and then falls out. Yes, however...: It is totally safe to take biotin, which is a safe nontoxic vitamin. However, it may not help your hair loss- biotin can help if you are deficient but if not deficient then it is not likely to help. Is 500 mg of panothenic acid a day too much ? I read that this can cause hair loss I've been taking one capsule a day for 2 weeks I'm scared

No: It will not harm you. But it will not benefit you, either. It is in most foods. The harm is wasting your money . The harm is you thinking this is of value so you deprive yourself of something that really does improve your body. Try a dermatologist instead of a con artist. ...Read more

Is it true that wearing a ponytail every day can cause hair loss? And should I change my hair parting frequently as well? I heard that the hair parting can widen over time and hair can thin?

Is it true that wearing a ponytail every day can cause hair loss? And should I change my hair parting frequently as well? I heard that the hair parting can widen over time and hair can thin?

Not material: Unless you pull your hair too tight, how you wear your hair does not have bearing on losing hair. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

Worthless: I am sorry you have not had your hair loss evaluated, but were given a "pop" remedy that seldom helps. Get a proper evaluation. If it is hypothyroidism, your life depends on proper treatment. If it is telegen effluvium, perhaps a cause can be found. If it is alopecia areata, Rx will likely fail and you can adapt. ...Read more
