Why do moles grow hair?

Coincedence: Moles are collections of cells called melanocytes that grow in the dermis, the firm connective tissue part of the skin, or at the level of the border between the top layers of skin, the epidermis, and the dermis. Sometimes these collections arise in the vicinity of hair shafts and it appears that the mole is growing hair. ...Read more

I have a mole on my chin which i get hair growing so I have to pluck them out which is quite painful so would i be able to get it removed?

Yes, can be removed: Moles can typically either be shaved off or cut out. While shaving typically removes the pigmented part of most raised moles it will not remove the hair follicles. Last time I cut a single long hair growing from my regularly looking mole (pencil eraser-size) it didn't grow back unlike previous times. Is this bad?

No: Do not worry about the hair. If the mole doubles in size, becomes irregular in size, shape or color, bleeds, ulcerates or develops a nodule, see a doctor. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

Hairy mole: In general, "moles" should be checked by experienced practitioners and biopsied or followed if necessary. Hair, growing or not, doesn't usually enter into it. Although most melanoma and basal cell neoplasms do not grow hair, some dark hairy patches can be serious, see: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1295033-overview ...Read more

You probably: have some scar tissue or the mole is still forming from the trauma. Basal cell cancers don't grow from moles, and typically do not have hair growing out of them, unless the cancer appears in a hairy area ...Read more
