Hair loss, otherwise known as alopecia, can be caused by different reasons, including damage to the hair shaft or follicles or fungal infections. There are two main types of alopecia. Alopecia areata occurs when the body's immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair to fall out. Androgenetic (or androgenic) alopecia, on the other hand, is an inherited form of hair loss. With alopecia areata, hair can fall out in patches all over the body. With androgenetic alopecia, hair on the head first thins and then falls out. Alopecia: Chastity, this is not uncommon after pregnancy. Have your TSH (thyroid) checked and a dermatologist to check for alopecia areata. If a physiological loss of hair, there is a chance it may grow back. Until then I would consider extensions etc to cover. I would not go the drastic route of hair transplant just yet! It should pass: Hair growth has stages like a farmers crops.We usually have some hair starting a growth phase as a similar number hit their shed phase.Delivery has pushed much of your scalp to enter a shed phase at the same time.It happens with other stressors sometime too.I can't buy blaming Breast feeding. It is not a deficiency and supplements won't help. Most will see their scalp return to normal over time. ...Read more
