H. parainfluenzae: Haemophilus parainfluenzae, is a common bacteria found normally in the oropharynx. It probably is NOT the germ responsible for your pharyngitis, although I hope by now after 7 days of antibiotics you're better. Normal flora: Hemophilus influenzae is a little unusual to be isolated from a vaginal swab, but this organism is part of our normal bacterial population, primarily found in the upper respiratory tract. Children: Parainfluenza is a very common VIRAL infection that there is no medicine for it. It will get better on its own. Its the number 1 cause for croup, which if your child has, besides steam showers and cold air, steroids can often help with that. ...Read more
