Is it always diabetes when you are frequently urinating? My blood sugar levels are okay. I haven't done urine analysis yet
My blood test shows high lipids? When should medicines be considered, since some people are just on "diet"?
Depends: Depends on your risk factors, whether you have documented coronary artery disease. If you are diabetic you probably should be on a statin. Diet is astaple of treatment but may not be enough. I have a 12 hour fasting blood sugar of 104mg/dl. Im very worried. Is it certain that i will develop diabetes?Pls help.
Need more tests: 104 fasting is in the prediabetes range but can't make the diagnosis on one number. See your doctor for another fasting sugar draw or a test called hemoglobin a1c. If it's between 5.7-6.4 and fasting sugar 100-125, then you have prediabetes. This is the most important time to get an exercise and diet regimen going. At this stage, it's reversible. ...Read more
Expected: People with pre-diabetes and type 2 dm are predisposed to low blood sugars because of high Insulin levels released upon eating, particularly starchy or sugary foods. Best way to avoid low blood sugar is to eat foods with more fiber and less starch overall. Higher numbers will also improve with healthier diet and exercise. Really important to have nutritionist involved. ...Read more

Why are the obs so strict with my blood sugar when I am pregnant and the internists not so if not?
Babies: The results of uncontrolled blood sugars in pregnancy are high blood sugars crossing the placenta and causing "large" babies and other problems. Large babies used to seeing high sugars in utero tend to crash after birth when the levels suddently plummet. You probably worked hard at getting pregnant so why not take the best care of yourself to help your baby afterwards? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am 39 with controlled high blood pressure but obese and I also have anti vel antigen blood type. I am 5 weeks pregnant . Is this a dangerous pregnan?
Arguably yes.: Simply given your age (>35), obesity, atrial fibrillation & high blood pressure requiring medication, you are considered "high risk." Both your medications are teratogen Class C drugs, i.e. the FDA has no evidence that they are safe during organogenesis. The anti-vel alloantibody does complicate things further for both you and the gestation. Consider addressing this with both an OB & internist. ...Read more
I am a diabetic and on insulin I am also HIV +
why is it that when i take insulin, bm levels are high but when i skip insulin bm levels become normal?
Has nothing to do...: With hiv but high numbers with Insulin and when you skip Insulin bm levels become normal, suggests your on too much Insulin which sends sugars too low- brain sees low sugar, tells liver to make sugar eg: rebounds sugar to too high levels you likely need less insulin must talk to md who understands this- if necessary , see endocrinologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am a diabetic and have not had a period for months. I have taken a pregnancy test and it has come up negative. What could be t my blood sugars are not controlled.
Amenorrhea : Amenorrhea (absent period) is obviously caused by pregnancy; if pregnancy is not the case other issues that can cause amenorrhea are hormonal changes, significant weight gain or loss, stress/anxiety, perimenopausal(beginning of menopause); thryorid disorders, and diabetes. My advice is to get your diabetes under control, and expect to see a return of your menstrual cycle. Make sure you inform your doctor that you are having this problem. Please take good care. ...Read more

Borderline result: 35% gb ejection fraction in most labs is borderline normal. Are these symptoms diabetic? My blood sugar was checked just randomly at some walkathon and it was pretty high according to the nurse there it was 245 over some low number i can't remember. Anyhow I am a person that suffers from hyperglycimia as it is and
I : I am not sure about those nausea and faint feelings but there is little doubt that you have diabetes if your sugar was above 200 randomly. Nausea and feeling faint are not typical symptoms of diabetes. But you might feel better once you have that diagnosis confirmed and you get your sugar/diabetes under control. Check in with your doctor to get a fasting glucose measurement, hemoglobin a1c, other chemistries and an exam to check blood pressure, pulse etc. Take care and i hope you don't stop walking see the link below. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is high blood sugars always a sign of diabetes? In other words an my high blood sugars be high and i don't have diabetes?
High sugars=diabetes: I hear you when you ask "do i really have diabetes?" but the definition of diabetes is elevated blood sugars. The cause of the elevated sugars is either the inability of Insulin to get your sugars out of the blood circulation into your cells -insulin resistance - or from failure of the pancreas to produce enough insulin. The elevated sugars can do damage so just use it as a life challenge. ...Read more
