I had a lot of people tell me they had their period while pregnant & they have healthy kids. Could it be true?

Nope!: It is not possible to menstruate while pregnant. Anyone who says so doesn't understand the physiology and endocrinology of menstruation, that's pure myth. Many many women have vaginal bleeding while pregnant, that's normal: but it's not menstruation, and not your period. ...Read more

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Don't think so: A woman cannot get her regular period and be pregnant at the same time. However, she can get pregnant a week or two after her regular period. If she has some spotting or light bleeding that doesn't look like her normal regular period, she can check a urine pregnancy test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) to see if she is pregnant. ...Read more

Can do preg. test: Pregnancy is always a possibility in a woman in her fertile years. Simple urine pregnancy tests are available at any drugstore (a woman can do the test after missing a period). A woman can also go to a primary care doctor or an ob-gyn doctor for testing. If the test is positive, the woman needs to set up routine appointments with the doctor that will be providing her prenatal care. ...Read more

HCG levels: Her doctor would have to test specifically for quantified HCG levels in order to know them. A basic pregnancy test says only positive or negative. Perhaps this woman did not have quantified HCG levels done until 6 weeks of pregnancy. Pregnancy and full menstrual periods are mutually exclusive. Some "implantation bleeding" (which is not that common) could occur, though. ...Read more

I have been on Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) for 1 year. For 3 months I haven't had my period (not pregnant). If I switch to Yasmine would I be more likely to have my period?

I have been on Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) for 1 year. For 3 months I haven't had my period (not pregnant). If I switch to Yasmine would I be more likely to have my period?

No need: One of the benefits of Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) over Yasmin or other 21/7 pills is that you do not have to suffer heavy periods. It is designed to reduce or eliminate the menstrual cycle. This is how it works. You are welcome to switch to a traditional pill will likely force bleeding but then you are missing out on the nice side effect of cycle elimination offered by the 24/8 pills. ...Read more

Unlikely: Nexplanon has a low failure rate since it doesn't require you to take pills or make appointments for injections. Unfortunately, it's very common to have irregular, unpredictable bleeding with this form of contraception. If you have pregnancy symptoms, though, do a pregnancy test to be sure. ...Read more
