Getting h. Pylori breath test in a couple of weeks. Wondering if symptoms of severe abdominal distention and extreme gas could show false weight gain?

Usually not: Having bowel gas won't cause you to gain weight. There's something called ascites, which is fluid collection in the abdomen - usually present in cirrhosis and other diseases - that can cause weight gain, but h pylori doesn't cause that. ...Read more

Can H. Pylori infection cause a large amount of weight loss?

Can H. Pylori infection cause a large amount of weight loss?

Probably not: H. pylori infection of the stomach may be present in more than half the people in the world! Most people don't realize they have it. But if you develop symptoms of an ulcer--burning abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite, and unintentional weight loss--the cause could be H. pylori. I would think the pain and nausea of an ulcer would drive you to treatment before you lost a large amount of weight ...Read more

Epigastric discomfort and constant belching, weight loss, blood test came back negative for h. Pylori? ...What else could be? *young patient.

Epigastric pain: Probably warrants a visit to a gastroenterologist. The discomfort and belching may just be reflux that might respond to a trial of an over the counter medication like otc Prilosec or similar. Digestive problems: Well a gastroenterologist is an 'expert' in this field - so hopefully something can get worked out for you to have the full evaluation, which helps direct the best treatment. In the meantime, you could try various things for improvement. I'm a big fan of ginger. I recc ginger tea, ginger candies, anything with ginger. Take ginger root, boil for 10 min, add honey -see if that helps. Feel better! ...Read more

I was diagnosed with h.pylori. I've lost weight the past 2 years, I was wondering if my h.pylori gets cured will I gain all the weight back?

No. ...: As you know, helicobacter pylori is the causal agent for peptic ulcer disease. Possibly you are suggesting that the symptoms of h. pylori--abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite--contributed to your weight loss, and maybe it did. But untreated/uncured h.pylori and ulcers can lead to serious problems; you should definitely pursue treatment and cure. Control weight with balancing calories/activity ...Read more

What is the best way to treat hyperplastic polyps? Negative for H pylori. 1st GI thinks it Minetriers Disease due to protein loss. 2nd GI says No

No treatment needed.: Hyperplastic polyps in themselves do not need treatment. They do not turn to cancer or anything that is harmful.
