H Pylori And Ibs
H pylori gastritis showed in EGD. Pain, nausea, treated 3 x with antibiotics. h p. positive. Is L glutamine and probiotic good to fight inflammation?
Inflammation: Those products won't eradicate inflammation. Specific treatment with three antibiotics and bismuth for 2 weeks is usually successful in eradicating H.Pylori and ppi medications like nexium or protonix treat inflammation. In my opinion probiotics aren't helpful in treating gastritis. ...Read more
Maybe (not) . . .: Everyone now agrees that h pylori is responsible for peptic ulcer disease, including gastric & duodenal ulcers. Epigastric pain, neg H pylori but pos FOBT. Colonoscopy normal but endoscopy showed gastritis. Cause of gastritis?
Causes of gastritis: The suffix "itis" means "inflammation". The prefix "gastro" means "stomach." the term "gastritis" thus means an "inflamed stomach." Start with acid blockers, diet modification, avoid alcohol/tobacco. ...Read more
Yes, it can.: H. Pylori is a type of bacteria that likes to grow on the inside of the stomach. This bacteria causes irritation of the stomach wall lining. The body tries to heal, but a vicious cycle of irritation and healing gets started. Over time, the regenerating stomach lining cells become disorganized in their growth which can (not always) lead to cancer growth. H. Pylori therapy can reduce cancer risk. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My upper endoscopy showed everything normal except mild gastritis...no H. Pylori. I have acid reflux and take Omeprazole. Why gastritis?
See below: The test that i think of for breath testing is for helicobacter pylori, which is a bacterial infection of the stomach that can cause gastritis or stomach ulcers. This test is accurate and currently seems to be preferred over blood testing for h. Pylori. There have been some breath testing for intestinal bacterial overgrowth problems, but I do not know if it is performed much anymore. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
