New radiologist performed core biopsy. 1 year post fellowship of breast imaging at memorial sloan kettering. LIkely she knows what she's doing?
By definition, "alternative" is different than modern western medicine. Generally any drug, herb, treatment, or procedure that stands up to rigorous scientific scrutiny is included in modern medicine. The problem is that many alternative practices, herbs etc do not stand up to scientific scrutiny and cannot be shown to work. They therefore remain "alternative". Be careful ...Read more

After obgyns finish residency do they have to choose a subspecialty (maternal fetal medicine, gynecology oncology)?
School nurse needs advise on excusing girls from swimming during menses when student won't use tampons. Big pushback from PE staff.
Oh my.....: Teaching staff absolutely cannot dictate a girl's choice in this matter. Humiliating a girl into wearing a tampon or bleeding everywhere is unacceptable. To deter abuse of the privilege by students, a good compromise may be not an excuse from PE, just from swimming. They can dress out in shorts/tee and sit poolside if needed to attend class.Forcible use of tampons is assault. Humiliation is abuse ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can i keep bahama cruise reserv 1mo post-op after laparoscopic assisted low anterior resection of rectal cancer? Surgeon says no, gi/oncologist yes.
Newly divorced, ex cheated a lot, partial hysterectomy & wanted full std screen Dr. said unnecessary b/c some I couldn't get. Right? or 2nd opinion?
Get the STD screen: In my opinion to be on the safe side you should have a full STD screen done as soon as possible at a local clinic. Also this seems like a very traumatic emotional experience and so if you would like some counselling to help you deal with this I can offer you that. If you feel this would help you please set up an appointment with me on HealthTap: www.healthtap.com/drharoldmandel ...Read more
How do university surgeons get paid? Is it just salary or salary + procedures? Is private vs public school any different? Ex usc vs ucla surgeons.
Salary alone.: University-employed professors are salaried and thus have no incentive to perform additional procedures unless they are clearly indicated. My understanding is that some private universities may give year-end bonuses on productivity, but most public ones do not. ...Read more

U/s @23 weeks placenta 3.8cm from os-trans abdominal full bladder. At 28w different clinic transvaginal -3.4cm from os. Who is right? It's posterior.
Here are some ...: Are you suffering from pregnancy-related symptoms or sicknesses? If not, why have you got 2 US for the "same" reason - pregnancy? A comparison should be done the same approach preferably with the same machine by the same tech if possible. So, correlate test result with clinical profile, and I would not dig around with anxiety if you're free of undue pregnancy-related disorders. More? Ask Doc... ...Read more
U/s @23 weeks placenta 3.8cm from os-trans abdominal full bladder. At 28w different clinic transvaginal -3.4cm from os. Who is right? It's posterior
Irrelevant: Transvaginal ultrasounds is the best modality for assessing a placenta that is near the os (previa). However because your placenta is more than three centimeters away from the os on both scans, I would not worry about this finding of a difference as it does not matter. Make sure you don't have any bleeding though. Hope that helps and good luck. ...Read more
Rn at assisted living gives applicants tests for dementia. Since misdiagnosis will hurt, should I get second opinion?
Diagnosed w/ HPV 2yrs ago. Inadequate Pap smear 2x. DR said I don't have the cancerous strains. But my prof. (Nurse pract) said I'll still get cancer?
Odd statement: I don't know the wording your NP used, but there appears to be a miscommunication. You might, in your lifetime, go on to develop cancer, but most do not.Even those who have tested positive for the high risk strains may never get it.It may motivate some to be more compliant with having the PAP tests done but that is all. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Are doctors against performing hysterectomies on mid-late 20s women? After 14+ years of periods. I can't imagine that pain every month until i'm 50
See doctor: Your periods should be tolerable. If b=not see your gynecologist - there are many good treatment options to help with problematic periods. It may be that a simple medication will solve your problems, but it may be that a hysterectomy is the best treatment. See your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can politics stop civilian ent's say surgery needed for mastotiditis & tore ear drum. Civ dr's refuse treatment when thy find out va caused it apr 201?
Gets complicated...: In general, the U.S. Is a free country, so a patient can select any doctor he wants to go to, and likewise, a doctor can select which patient he wants to treat. That makes life fair. Usually, if there is a complication after a surgery, that surgeon or another surgeon on the same team corrects the problems, instead of bringing an outside person into a problem situation. The va may have more rules. ...Read more
