Why do male gynecologists pretend they understand my pain? "you'll feel 'pressure'" "i know it hurts" what's the point in lying? It makes me angrier.
Pain: Doctors take care of thousands of patients in their careers. They learn to recognize and anticipate the patient's symptoms and responses. They aren't lying any more than a female gynecologist who's never had a baby can tell you it will hurt. But ...: The doctor will know a patient is not a virgin the minute the patient tells the doctor! of course, if the patient doesn't tell the doctor, the doctor won't know, and will have to ask the patient, or will have to guess. Depends: What happens at a Gyn visit depends on how old you are and why you are going. Most Gyns won't do a pap until age 21 and STD testing can often be done using urine. If you do need an exam, a nurse will be present. Its usually very quick and allows your Gyn to swab the cervix and vagina for certain tests.
