Gynecologist Pap Smear
Obstetricians deal with pregnancy and helping women to have a healthy baby. Gynecology deals with women's reproduction health, so gynecologists treat reproductive health problems like irregular periods, vaginitis, abnormal pap tests. Went to my gynecologist she did a pap smear. Do to I have HPV she barely touched my cervix and it started bleeding some.?
Complication?: I know of no specific relationship between pap smear post procedural bleeding and hpv infection. That said, you may want to follow-up sooner with your physician to double check that there is not some sort of complication (some spotting maybe ok but frank hemorrhage may need to be rechecked). ...Read more
I went to the gynecologist two days ago for a pap smear and I still have bloody discharge. Is this normal?

Is it bad if I've never been seen by a gynecologist? I know it's mandatory to get a Pap smear at year 16/17 but saw my moms and they gave me birthcont
How often must i get a pap smear? I am 22 years old and have never gotten it done. I'm not even entirely sure how to pick a gynecologist. Would my doctor tell me when it's time?
Asking a gynecologist: when you go in for a Pap smear, do they ever check for nicotine in your cells when they send it to a lab, cause I read they did not. I am a light smoker only 14 cigs/ wk and two days out of the week I don't smoke at all?
Just tell the doctor: No. Medical care resources are limited and expensive. Every patient can just tell her doctor if she is smoking, how much she is smoking, and which methods she is using to try to quit smoking. Usually, primary care doctors and their staff will ask about smoking. Thus, there is no reason in normal situations to spend time and precious resources doing tests for something the patient can just say. ...Read more
Possibly: Based on your age, a good gynecologist will always do pap screening when evaluating your for other problems. While they may not be related, it is important to know the whole picture of the pelvic organs. If there is something "positive" on a pap, you may approach the disorder in the ovary differently. ...Read more
My gynecologist will not perform a pap smear or test for other cancers, what could be the reason why?
Payment?: One reason is that guidelines for screening tests have changed and suggest less frequent testing. If he/she orders tests for you that your insurance regards as 'unnecessary' it won't reimburse you for the expense. There may be different reasons, based perhaps on your healh history. Ask your doctor about this instead of asking a web site to try and read his/her mind, or ask for a referral. ...Read more
