Patellar Tracking: Your description sounds like patellar tracking disorder. The kneecap (patella) shifts out of place as the leg bends or straightens. If it is a fracture, you would be well suited to avoid exercises that put extra strain on that area such as seated military press, etc for 6-8 weeks. No; your preference: Before our college football games ( and practices ) players stretch actively or dynamically... And some players have an assistant athletic trainer or a massage therapist who works w/ our team work on passive or static stretching in addition.
