None specifically: To my knowledge there are no medications that are specifically known to cause itching gums (as a side effect). See your dentist for an oral evaluation. It's probably something else that causing it. If your dentist doesn't think it's dentally related, see your physician for an evaluation. ...Read more

Gums addressed: Claritin (loratadine) may only be masking something deeper. Your gum tissues are attempting to tell you that you may have a neuralgia, autoimmune disease, shingles, or general reaction to something you are being exposed to. All of which are fairly serious. Please visit a rheumatologist or allergist, and if you ever have trouble breathing or swallowing call 911. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Gingivitis: Since you are only 18 years old, this usually is a symptom of gingivitis, which is fairly easy to treat (unless you have ljp or post ljp, then it would be hard to treat). Gingivitis is inflammation of the gum. A good cleaning would be adequate. Ljp would involved antibiotics, scaling and root planing, laser, grafting, and follow ups with strict recall appointment. Ljp destroyed bone severely. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Possible infection?: It could be an infection, so therefore have it checked out as soon as possible by a dentist. Although it could be something else, and may not even need any treatment, it's better to be safe than sorry. You don't want to take the chance on a much more serious flare-up, especially during the night or the weekend when no dentist is available to help resolve the issue. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How long?: If these problems just started a couple of days ago, that may be just from a viral infection if a drug reaction has been ruled out. On the other hand, if this is caused by a drug recently, you need to see a doctor ASAP. There are many causes for itching and thus a dermatology consult may be warranted if the problem has persisted for more than 2 weeks or is getting worse. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

When I eat walnuts, my gums become slightly irritated (sore), no itching or swelling, is this an allergy?
Avoid walnut & pecan: You might have oral allergy syndrome, a cross-reaction between allergens in raw fruits, vegetables & nuts & those in birch & ragweed pollens. The resemblance & the consequent symptoms of itchy mouth & throat tickle disappear with sufficient heating of the food. Neither home nor medical cures work so its best to avoid these nuts. An allergist can help sort this out from true walnut/pecan allergy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Chest Cough - cause?: So, without a list of other associated signs & symptoms, I could not safely or professionally diagnose pneumonia in a such a setting. Ur q says ur a smoker, but profile says non-smoker. smokers may develop cough over time, as well as, ironically, brief exacerbation of cough when they try to quit or cut back smoking. Don't be discouraged! Quitting is by far the healthiest thing you can do! D/w pcp. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

A capsule?: Haven't seen a true capsule for tramadol (they always seem to be tablets). So, one can bring the capsules back to the pharmacy or doctor to confirm they truly are tramadol. Perhaps the capsule is a combination drug, containing tramadol and something else. As for the symptoms, one can ask her primary doctor to see if it may be an allergic reaction to a drug, or be part of the original illness. ...Read more

See doctor: It sounds like you definitely have an infection. Could be simple like a yeast infection, or could be a more serious STD. But definitely if you have white placques or papules, then probably yeast, but would want to make sure isn't herpes or syphilis. Normal for discharge to get pink or brown, that's usually discharge mixed with some new or old blood from menstrual cycle. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
