Perhaps: Perhaps an allergic response to food/Meds/supplements. Can be caused by smoking. Could be viral, bacterial, or fungal infection. Call your Dentist for an immediate examination. If throat swells or airway becomes compromised call 911 or have someone rush you to ER. ...Read more

Gingivitis: Since you are only 18 years old, this usually is a symptom of gingivitis, which is fairly easy to treat (unless you have ljp or post ljp, then it would be hard to treat). Gingivitis is inflammation of the gum. A good cleaning would be adequate. Ljp would involved antibiotics, scaling and root planing, laser, grafting, and follow ups with strict recall appointment. My right upper back part of my gums have been itching profusely. I've managed to itch them. I've also noticed a little white sore or bubble. Soar gums?

Possible infection?: It could be an infection, so therefore have it checked out as soon as possible by a dentist. Although it could be something else, and may not even need any treatment, it's better to be safe than sorry. You don't want to take the chance on a much more serious flare-up, especially during the night or the weekend when no dentist is available to help resolve the issue. ...Read more

Gums addressed: Claritin (loratadine) may only be masking something deeper. Your gum tissues are attempting to tell you that you may have a neuralgia, autoimmune disease, shingles, or general reaction to something you are being exposed to. All of which are fairly serious. How long?: If these problems just started a couple of days ago, that may be just from a viral infection if a drug reaction has been ruled out. On the other hand, if this is caused by a drug recently, you need to see a doctor ASAP.
