What is a good mucolytic/expectorant drug?

Immediate-release 400mg guaifenesin doesn't help that much, even after taking more than recommended.

Expectoration : Hydration and more hydration is the key. Mucinex (guaifenesin) is somewhat effective. Mucomyst pills may also help. However, in a generally healthy individual, without underlying lung disease, hydration and time should do most of the work. Eucalyptus oil seems to work in some people, mostly in inhaled form. Is it reasonable that I buy Mucinex (guaifenesin) maximum strength expectorant if I have cough accompanied by phlegm?

Is it reasonable that I buy Mucinex (guaifenesin) maximum strength expectorant if I have cough accompanied by phlegm?

No...: In order to treat a cough, you first need to know what the etiology of the cough is. It is not always a good idea to suppress a cough since this is your body's way of getting rid of substances that are harmful, like bacteria. An expectorant is usually not needed because your body will cough enough without it in most cases. To treat a cough, have it diagnosed by your doctor first! ...Read more

Is there anything besides Mucinex (guaifenesin) on the market that works as an expectorant? I have asthma — mucus is major issue for me. I take Mucinex (guaifenesin) twice a day

Is there anything besides Mucinex (guaifenesin) on the market that works as an expectorant? I have asthma — mucus is major issue for me. I take Mucinex (guaifenesin) twice a day

Oral Diphyl-G: Thick mucus has been a real problem for my patients with asthma. Mucus thinning medications such as Guaifenesin present in Mucinex (guaifenesin) and robutussin has been very beneficial. One other item which I prescribe to patients is a mixture of Dyphylline and Guaifenesin (difil-g) which I find very useful to bring the secretion up because of additional dilating effect on airway. Please consult your doctor. ...Read more

How do I get rid of a medication rash? Hi, I took Mucinex (guaifenesin) d sometime last week, now I believe it cause a rash throughout my torso and face. How can I get rid of it?

This : This is difficult to answer without a clinical examination, but typically a drug rash can linger for a little while.
