Grunting Sounds When Breathing Out
My three month old grunts all the time. Sounds like sling blade. He doesn't appear to b in discomfort. He has been doing this since birth. Why?
Airway Noise: If child has no symptoms of respiratory distress/difficulty, consider abnormalities of the upper airway. Tracheomalacia is increased "floppiness" in upper airway that can cause increased noise especially with inspiration, worse when crying or breathing hard. Shallow breather due to minor cp. Only thing is i sound breathy, voice projection issues when nervous. Deep breathing exc hard to commit to, why?

Two possibilities: Your eustachian tube can be too open. It normally stays closed and opens with pressure changes or swallowing. If it is open always, it can cause you to hear your own breath sounds. It should get better with lying down. Or you could have a superior semicircular canal dehiscence, which means a compartment of your inner ear has a hole in it.
