Grey Spots On Ct Scan
I recently had a CT scan and they found spots on my liver, what could this be. Having another CT scan w/contrast next week?
It depends: It depends on several things. The most important considerations are age, sex, and other medical problems. In broad terms, these spots could be anything from cysts to hemangiomas (abnormal, non-cancerous blood vessel accumulations) to cancerous tumors. The ct scan should help clarify. Sometimes a biopsy is necessary to confirm the diagnosis if the ct is unclear. ...Read more
Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! The image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more

Many: First thing is histoplasmsis. This causes multiple small nodules. It sounds like your doctor is following this: http://www. Med. Umich. Edu/rad/res/fleischner-nodule. Htm which is the best way to follow these nodules. Hopefull, you've quit (or never were) smoking, and you're keeping a very good eye on them. ...Read more
What are neurologists looking for in a 72 hour eeg. He saw three white places in a CT scan. To me these spots looked like the skull. White.
Short lived events: An eeg is only able to capture events that occur while the leads are attached. Ambulatory eegs allow longer-term monitoring to capture these infrequent events more reliably. One typical application is spells that might be seizures- if the eeg during a typical spell does not show seizure activity, that argues strongly for another cause. ...Read more
Getting numb, tingling, crawling feeling in my whole face in different spots CT scan was good doctor was no help what causes this should I worry?
Many possibilities: Numb, tingling sensations are called "paresthesias" and should be evaluated with a complete neurological exam and history in-person. If the rest of the neurological exam were normal and healthy, the most likely explanations are anxiety, medication side effects, or migraines. Sometimes people can have the sensory auras associated with migraines without having a headache ("acephalgic"). ...Read more

And then you take a first look at the map and are immediately confused? So what do you do? Post a question on HikeTap? This is analogous, except the knowledge gap in medicine is way, way wider. Clear ab CT scan w/ IV & oral contrast, clear colonoscopy then u/s diagnosis liver hemangioma. Urq pain & tender spot n lower right rear rib. Ideas & nxt step?
See HPB surgeon: The symptoms you describe could well be related to the hepatic hemangioma. The decision to remove will depend on: 1) size (usually remove when > 10 cm); 2) symptomatic (pain, ache, fullness); 3) causing blood problems (when the hemangioma destroys blood cells); 4) causes congestive heart failure. See a surgeon who specializes in liver surgery, a hepatobiliary surgeon. ...Read more

I had a migrane this morning and it was the worse ever. Pain was on right side. Ct scan showed a spot on the right frontal lobes. Does MS comes up?
Unlikely: There is no real relationship between migraine and ms, other than the ms pt seems to have a higher incidence of migraine. The spot on the films may be important, and a followup MRI is recommended. One lesion is no necessarily a problem, and may be quite old. Migraine treatment includes stopping and preventing headaches. Is it possible I have a brain tumor? I've had this horrendous pain originating from a spot on my head had a CT scan done no contrast-clean
Ct scan showed that I have a 6cm spot/growth on the lower lobe of my right lung. Healthy 40yr old non-smoke fem. Is that large? How common is this?
6cm=big; 6mm=small: Sometimes people have a 6 mm spot (about 1/4 of an inch wide) but mistakenly remember it as a 6 CM mass (about 2-1/4 inches wide). A mass 6 centimeters (cm) wide is pretty big (a tennis ball is about 6-1/2 cm) and is usually not called a "spot". The doctor who ordered the ct can review the results to confirm whether the finding is a little 6 millimeter (mm) spot or a bigger mass. ...Read more
