You may have a simple infectious colitis. if you have more abdominal pain or nause or vomitting, then you may need antibiotics. Otherwise plenty of fluids and symptomatic treatment is enough.

Probably OK, but...: I agree you may not need an antibiotic and likely getting better on your own. Antibiotics are usually given for bronchitis (most "chest infections"), but usually symptoms would clear up on their own, without treatment. See doctor: It sounds like you have an infection in the middle ear or in the canal. In either case you need to be seen by a doctor for an exam and possibly antibiotics. Newborns can become ill more easily due to their developing immune systems. I would recommend monitoring for fever, and a follow up with your PCP.
