Enterobius: Some of pinworm larvae may hatch on the anal mucosa, and migrate up the bowel This retroinfection can lead to a heavy parasitic load and autoinfection through the anus-to-mouth route or through retroinfection often requires repeated treatment, at 2-week intervals, in order to remove the infection completely. Cleaning the house is essential and often very difficult. ...Read more
Your doctor can: A scotch tape test can be done for you. You set your alarm to wake up in the middle of the night (when the pinworms are usually active) and press a piece of scotch tape to your anus. The tape is then stuck to a microscope slide and the laboratory can look for pinworm eggs. A stool sample for ova and parasites is not as good a way to diagnose. Some just do presumptive tx if exposed. ...Read more
Tiny white specks in stool size of pinhead. What can cause this apart from pinworm? I took mebendezanole previously no symptoms. What other parasite??
Not likely parasite: If your symptoms didn't improve with Mebendazole, it is unlikely that ua are lookng at worm related as other worms like round and tape worms as other worms or their body parts look different. Indigestion or malabsorption may cause small fat particles in stools. In folks with poor immune system certain fungal infections of the intestines can cause them to appear in stools. I sometimes have what looks like a white thread in my stool, sometimes I only see 1 or a few, once I saw many. I don't know if it's fibers or pinworm?
Likely not: As an adult, you acquire pin worms by ingesting the eggs when they get on your hands caring for in infected toddler. The worm lays its eggs around the anal opening and the glue like material that holds the eggs produces a skin reaction/itching. Most adults pass thread like debris as byproducts of veritable intake, since humans do not digest some of the cellulose that accompanies these foods. ...Read more

Hello! I think I may have pinworms. I experience no itching and I only see them in my stool. Will they go away with strict hygeine alone?
I had pinworms as they were in my stool so I took medicine but I noticed there are what look like tapeworm eggs instead. Were they pinworms or not?
Or MULTIPLE parasitic infections are NOT that uncommon!! You need a stool exam for OVA (eggs) and the parasites themselves...then proper TREATMENT (Often a sinfle treatment with a "Broad spectrum" anti-helminth (anti-worm) will "do the trick"
Hope this helps

Might....but..: Anal itching from PW's is not from the worms but a skin reaction to the glue like material the eggs are deposited in around the anus. You can have a similar reaction or itch to yeast (from stool) bacteria, food allergies & many other things. There are over the counter pinworm meds you can try, but don't be surprised if they don't work. A little 1% hydrocortisone cream can sometimes help the itch. ...Read more

No: A stools color is generally due to the bile added to the poo as it travels through the digestive process. Transition: The color of poop depends on the status of the color additive. Bile added to the poop starts out deep green and transitions through lighter shades, then yellows then browns depending on the action of germs on the bile. Bile: The greenish color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change to yellowish or brown.
