I've got a dry cough and sore throat. Woke up today with eye discharge. No fever. Any ideas. I just got over a cold 2 weeks ago?

Sore Throat: 90% of sore throats are caused by a virus and are not strep throat. If you are a smoker, do not smoke. Sore throat can be helped with some soothing beverages like orange tea, salt water gargles, use Aleve (naproxen) for pain control, and try some zinc lozenges. You can use a humidifier if you have one. If pain persists, or you get a fever, see a doctor. Stay hydrated as well. Good luck. ...Read more

Viral URI: The mucus lining of the eye and of the nose and throat can be simultaneously infected by a virus at the same time. The usual treatments you might take for a cold are in order here. Tough to say: It is tough to differentiate between viral and bacterial infections, even with a good history, but sometimes, the only real way, and best way to know, is to see a Doctor and get a good medical valuation, so the best diagnosis can occur and your treatment will be tailored to your true diagnosis.
