Green Poop Formula Fed Baby
What are the stool's characteristics of a 3month old infant who is on a 100% milk formula feeding?
Varies some: Most develop regular stooling at a frequency of 1 or more daily. Color varies through shades of green to yellow to brown.
3 months old infant. Recently changed formula from 'novalac' to 'NAN' pooping continuously after every fed. Is it normal?
Common: In infants it is common for them to have a bowel movement after each feed. Most important is to see if the child is behaving and responding well. If baby is sucking well, feeding well, has no vomiting, smiles and is active, there is no cause for concern. But if you remain worried take the baby to a pediatrician to have the baby checked.
No: Probably not a problem. Especially if no other concern.
My 7 wk old baby just started having yellowish, seedy poop. She has had 5 a day for the last 3 days. Is this normal or a concern in formula fed babies?
Perfectly normal: Stools vary in consistency and frequency in this age group!
1 month old, formula feed infant has dark green poop that smells like skunk (sometimes stringy looking)...baby is gassy as well. Is this normal?
Could be: The first thing I would want to make sure is that your child is gaining weight appropriately and thriving. If that is the case, there are numerous things that could be of help, such as different formulas. That decision can be best made with your child's doctor who will know what formula your child is and/or has been on. Good luck.
3week baby poop yelow seedy mucusy after every feed, breastfeeding her 1st n then formula feeding her post it as breastmilk not sufficient, sugest if ok?
Infant stools: Yellow, seedy, nonbloody stools are normal in a formula fed infant. Changing from breast to formula, or changing from one formula to another can cause changes in stool frequency and appearance. Sudden changes in stools, if associated with irritability, bloody stools, vomiting, lethargy or any other symptom of illness should be evaluated prompty.
My three week old daughter has bad gas is that a problem? . Doing half breastfeeding. And half formula feeding and her poop is healthy its green
Gas OK: It is common for infants to be gassy. If she is stooping normally and has normal growth, it should not be a problem.
My baby is 2 months old. Her poop been watery since newborn I am breast & formula feeding. Lately I've been eating dairy & chocolates could that be caus?
Newborn poop: A 2 month old will have loose stools depending on whether they are breast or bottle fed. Normally yellow loose (looks like mustard or posse cottage cheese) can be normal. Some babies are sensitive to what the mother eats if she is breastfeeding and you can try eliminating dairy etc but I would sto[ formula feeds and try exclusively breast feeding to see if it improves.
My 12 week old formula fed infant appears to be constipated. Is there anything I can do to help him have a bowel movement?
Yes, but...: Keep in mind the symptoms of constipation are by definition hard and painful to pass stools. Remember a little pushing and uncomfortableness is ok as long as the stools are soft. Also an every other day stool for some bottle fed babies is fine. Keep in mind the position babies are in as they stool, FLAT ON THEIR BACK. Can you imagine? One oz water and one oz apple juice once will help.See 1 more doctor answer
6 mos old bby. 3x watery stool today. Yesterday no stool. Only milk formula feeding. Is it nrmal?
No: Is he is eating normally? No vomiting? Bring your baby to a pediatrician for eval. He is might developing stomach virus and need a close follow up.
Why did my 3 1/2 mo old breast fed babies poop smell different (almost a medicinal smell!) when on erythromycin eye ointment for eye infection?
Hard to say: This could be a situation where antibiotic somehow got on the baby's hand and made its way into the GI tract, OR, possibly something you are eating in your diet could be affecting the poop. The only thing that will prove what caused this is whether the funny poop smell is gone after the eye treatment is stopped for a week or so...
Normal: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris. It starts out a deep green & changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile. Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs.See 1 more doctor answer
Poop Colors: The color of stool is not usually concerning, as it reflects a lot of things we eat. Dark black, red or white stools are the only colors that are worrisome.See 1 more doctor answer
7 week old breastfed babies poop is bright green and has a unusual smell? Is this normal or should it be cause of concern?
Infants: This is totally normal and you should stop worrying.
My formula fed foster baby has realy dark green almost black poop and its really runny. Is this normal? Also he was a drug and alcohol exposed baby
Yes: Dark green/almost black stools are indeed normal color for some infants. If the stools are totally black, ask doc to check for hidden blood. But just very dark green are okay, as are the various yellow, greens, oranges and browns. Bad color is pure white, totally black, or red bloody. (purple would be weird too, but I've seen that only after purple birthday cake!) also, runny is good for baby poo.
My new born baby is formula fed his poop was always yellow now my baby is 1month old and his poop is green is something wrong? Why the color change?
Baby poop: Can be many different colors naturally and this is not usually a sign of any problem. In breastfed babies anything that the mother consumes can affect the baby's poop. As long as your baby otherwise appears well, and is well hydrated, this is not usually a reason for concern. Signs of dehydration in a baby as illustrated, are reason for medical attention.See 1 more doctor answer
