Since one can have one or more of these issues at the same time, a doctor's visit is recommended. ...Read more
Had common cold with fever. Fever gone now, just nasal congestion and productive cough. Phlegm appears green. Paranoid about pneumonia?
Don't worry.: Pneumonia will give you a fever and your symptoms would have gotten worse, not better, without treatment. It is common to have congestion and cough when recovering from an upper respiratory infection, the majority of which are caused by viruses. not bacteria. If you get sick again, go see your primary MD for evaluation and maybe an xray, if necessary. ...Read more

Possibly: Or you may be getting over a cold. As a cold improves the nasal secretions get thicker and a little yellow. If you are coughing up thick brown sputum with a deep cough i would be more concerned about a bacterial pneumonia or possibly bronchitis. Wet cough, stuffy nose for 2 months (thick green/white phlegm). Don't smoke, no fever, no allergie, blood test ok, xray ok, no sinus inf.
See a doctor: It sounds like you have seen doctors. How you can be sure you do not have an allergy is beyond me. Suggest that you try nasal saline rinses twice a day with a neti-pot (see your pharmacist), and perhaps combine that with a nasal steroid spray. If you are a smoker or around second hand smoke, stop. The material you bring up needs to be examined, and you need a face to face with a caring doctor. ...Read more
