Uri: Mucous production is a sign of inflammation representing allergy or cold in form of respiratory infection. If there is no fever generally supportive care with fluids, anti inflammatory meds as necessary, good nutrition and sometimes antihistamines and it will run its course.

Green throat mucus: Amazing you have no symptoms for what sounds like a long ongoing infection. Recommend you see your PCP. May need antibiotics.

Could be reflux: Silent acid reflux, which many folks have without symptoms, can prolong recovery from a sore throat. Try staying away from caffeine and alcohol for a few days. And if you smoke definitely stop that.

Pneumonia is a condition that often starts as bronchitis, is accompanied typically by productive cough, fever, and shortness of breath. "whooping cough", pertussis, occurs in unimmunized patients or in patients who have had their immunizations wear off, and have coughing spasms. Bronchitis is inflammation of the large airways and can be caused by bacterial or viral symptoms. If a patient has severe cough, vomiting, fever, or shortness of breath, then they should receive a medical evaluation to determine the cause.

Coughing green mucus: I understand your discomfort. Coughing up green mucus is likely not related to scalding of throat with hot coffee. Post nasal drip due to a sinus infection can cause green mucous. Blood cells- Neutrophils contain a greenish-colored enzyme, they can turn the mucus the same color. Smoking, infection, and air pollution can give color to the mucus. See your Physician for Diagnosis and Treatment.

Allergic sinusitis: The child might have started with allergic sinusitis then the post nasal drainage caused bronchitis. For sinusitis he can use a nasal spray or Claritin Syrup and for bronchitis use Zitromas oral suspension 250 mg first day and 125 mg for 4 days
