Several days I've had green poop. Not sure why because I haven't had any green vegetables or anything with green dye. What could it be?

Not concerning.: Stool color can vary because of a lot of factors, most notably diet. It is generally not a concern unless the store is bloody or solid black in color, due to bleeding, or rarely very pale due to gallbladder problems. If it persists to be a change in your usual color despite eating your normal diet, you might mention it to your family doctor. Otherwise, it will likely return to normal. Good luck. ...Read more

Green and loose stool? Didn't eat anything with green dye! what's wrong?

Green and loose stool? Didn't eat anything with green dye! what's wrong?

Green is bile: When your stool passes fast through the intestinal tract the green bile is the color you see in the stool, because the bile doesnt have time to get reabsorbed and give the darker colored stool you are used to. Yellow colored diarrhea is seen in even faster traveling stools. The darker the color, the slower the transit and greater reabsorption of bile. ...Read more

Normal: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris. It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile.Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs. If worried about something else schedule a visit. ...Read more

Embarassing, but my urine is green for the last 2 days. I've not eaten anything with dye in it, or anything out of the norm. Help?

Embarassing, but my urine is green for the last 2 days. I've not eaten anything with dye in it, or anything out of the norm. Help?

Difficult to say why: Different food reactions however alter the pH of urine without having to have eaten dye in food. The change of pH would render a substance more soluble in urine and that may change the color. Remember in science class the litmus paper changes color with change of ph. If lots of veg, dairy, or tea pH goes up. Lots of meat, pops, limeade, would decrease pH (acid). Change the diet and color prob will. ...Read more

Normal!: It is not uncommon in some children. If the stool is formed , child is growing i would not worry about it. It is often from green leafy vegetables, coloring agents in the food or simply due to rapid transit from small intestine to large intestine where it normally is tuned brown. ...Read more

Only from food: Blue vomit is not a naturally occurring condition. The only known cause is ingesting a food, drink or medication with blue color or dye. Because blue is a primary color, no combination of other colors will create it. If you did not then there is no other possible cause that is known so this is a complete mystery. Consult with your doctor (but undoubtedly your doctor will be equally mystified). ...Read more
