Are spices like green jalepeño, red bell pepper, and black ground pepper okay to eat when you have fatty liver. I put a little of each in each meal.
Yes: I once met a very nice person from India, who was amazed at how much of vegetables and fruit we don't use in the USA that other countries do! We peel too much, remove seeds that others eat, don't eat stems of thigks like broccoli. She used every bit of the pepper including the white pitch and seeds. So go ahead. More fiber too! ...Read more

This lunch healthy for 18 y/o tryin 2 lose weight? 1 piece whole wheat bread, 1avacodo, slices of tomato/onion/bell pepper, & 4-6 oz chicken breast
This is ok but if you really want to lose weight you might avoid the bread as less carbs will help; some feel gluten causes obesity so rice or quinoa might be better. I strongly advise organic chicken - see http://bit. Ly/19xax7e for the reasons.
My favorite diet for weight loss and overall health is dr. Fuhrman's nutritarian diet- see http://bit. Ly/1dhw9ht

What's going on? I have always been able to eat raw potatoes... Until this year, same with bell peppers, bananas and raw vegetables. They make my mouth and throat itch now and just the other day I ate a piece of bell pepper and my throat swelled up. What's
I: I can't tell you. However, I might be concerned about possibly having developed a food allergy. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which can cause inflammation of mucus membranes. However, you said you ate a bell pepper. If you ever again develop swelling of your throat, that is a real medical emergency because it can cause your throat to close down which would prevent breathing. I recommend that you see an allergist to help determine what is going on, and int he meat time, I would avoid eating anything which makes your mouth or throat itch or swell. I would have asked if the foods were sprayed with the same pesticide, but you included bananas too. ...Read more

Migraines and chili: There are some small studies looking at the effects of capsaicin on controlling the pain associated with migraines. Some of these studies are favorable, but clinicians favor larger, blinded studies in which both the treating physician and patient are unaware of the treatment. That bar has not been reached yet. Please discuss with your physician. ...Read more
Why is the inside of my mouth swollen in a ridge along the tooth line? My tongue feels like it has pepper on? Is this an allergy?
Ate spaghetti squash (w/olive oil, goat cheese, salt, pepper). Nose swollen inside, sinusdrainage, asthma. Allergic to squash?!? Other food allergies.
Food allergy: If you ate the squash and had an immediate reaction (minutes to 2hrs) that included hives, swelling, shortness of breath, wheeze, throat tightness, vomiting or passing out then I would be concerned for a food allergy reaction. Would make an appointment with an allergist to determine what could be the culprit foods. Bring list of ingredients eaten that meal to appointment. Avoid foods until seen. ...Read more

Food alllergy? Hi I have eaten oat biscuit and black pepper and a banana, I am now itchy hair head eye eyebrow?
Maybe: Food allergic reactions have been described with oats as well as other grains. Banana allergy can be associated with latex allergy. Black pepper allergy is fairly uncommon, but spice allergy is likely more common than previously thought as many persons who had reactions just stop eating it and it may not be reported. An allergist can help confirm or rule out the above foods as the trigger. ...Read more

Curious about migraine triggers and diet treatment? Also can allergies and sinus issues be a factor with migraines?
No Evidence: It seems that there is not enough hard scientific data to prove or disprove any particular food triggers a migraine. However, many people report that foods containing tyramine and msg trigger their headache. Certainly some people believe sinus issues to be responsible for headache (hence the term sinus headache) but these are not, strictly speaking, migraines. ...Read more
Migraine sufferer. Don't get them often. 3 migraines in 5 days. Could my severe allergies be causing them. Pollen is a nemesis?
Chronic migraine sufferer with limited meds due to allergies. Best proven supplements worth trying as a prophylactic please. I'm desperate for relief?
Limited medication?: If you cannot tolerate medications for migraines (of which there are several different classes of drugs) and you have more than 15 migraine attacks per month, consider Botox Rx. In the meanwhile, keep regular sleeping hours and eating at least 3 meals a day. Stress reduction and biofeedback may be helpful. I don't think supplements have proven track record for people with severe migraines. ...Read more

What is known about high histamine levels. Could that cause migraine and also sensitivity to allergies. Very light sleeper and sleep only 5 to 6 hrs.
Terminology: Cluster headaches historically were also termed "histamine cephalgia", but the headaches had nothing to do with histamine, and migraine has little to do with this also. Histamine does increase as an allergic phenomenon, and seasonal allergies seem more frequent in migraine pts. If you suffer both, a drug called Cyproheptadine may treat allergies and prevent migraines (twofers). ...Read more

What causes all over headaches all day? I have rhinitis since April. Neuro doesn't suspect tumor and won't so MRI. Suspects migraine or allergies
Varies: What you're experiencing is frustrating. In a 29 year old man with a recent history of rhinitis, chronic rhinitis or sinusitis is definitely a consideration. I'd want to know if there were any additional symptoms associated with what you're experiencing. Do you have a family history of headaches as well - this might put migraine higher on my list. A PCP visit is recommended. Take care! ...Read more

Not w/o supervision: Less is always better but not w/o the supervision of all physicians involved with your care. If certain medications are not tapered, seizures could occur which always have the risk of morbidity and even mortality.
