Gray Sticky Stool Of A 2 Months Old Baby
Not normal: Black stools are not normal. While rarely a dietary cause may be found, most often black stools signify blood in the stools, blood that is coming from a little bit higher up in the GI tract. I would see your doctor soon to first check out if it is blood, and if so, find out why the child has this. ...Read more
My 3 months old baby having a dark green poops for almost 2 months, now his having a dark gray sticky poops.I'm not changing his formula since then.
Normal variation: The main agent adding color to the poo is the material made by the liver called bile. It starts out a dark green and goes thru the yellows to brown depending on the influences of various factors in the intestines. Rapid transit thru the system, as may occur with diarrhea or breast feeding may have a greenish yellow or yellow appearance. The slower, more likely browner. ...Read more
10 week old formula fed bub had blueish/green poo stringy with sort of grey edges, has had a few loose b/m is this normal? Also has had a few colds
Maybe: Blue stools are impossible unless you are feeding the baby something blue. If your baby is cared for at home and has no siblings it is unusual that she would have several colds. An assessment by her doctor sounds like the best plan. That way she/he can be sure she is thriving well. If you have a stool take it with you. All the best. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Bile: The greenish color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change to yellowish or brown. It is normal as is the loose consistency. Some digested material will take on a darker tint than others & the germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd ignore the whole issue. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
6-mnth old baby; mornin stool normal: big bout-yellow semi-solid; during the day: 2-3x small watery yellow/green stools. Y? Due 2 introducin new food?
My 6 week old son has had 3 diapers of grey stool.Soft, clay like, starts out grey and then it turn into the normal seedy yellow stool. Is this normal?
Short answer, yes: His GI tract is still getting used to digestion. As long as the stool normalized as you say, i don't think there is a problem. Similar things happened with our 3 kids, all resolved by next bowel movement, was transient, and not associated with any other symptoms like pain, crying, vomiting, feeding difficulty, etc. If this is the case, no worries. If any other symptoms occur, see pediatrician. ...Read more
See ur doctor: The most common cause is hard stools causing a small tear in the anus. If he had a hard stool when u found the blood this is probably the cause. If not, or if it is actually loose, then call your doctor. If associated with fever or abdominal pain/fussiness then it is urgent you see your doc or go to er. ...Read more
Hard to tell: It would be unwise to interpret your baby's mucus solely without looking at the entire picture. You may need to provide more detail as to how else your baby is doing - fever, feeding routine, blood present in stool, presence of pain, change in urination etc.? Brown mucus w/out other symptoms, otherwise, may not be something to worry. ...Read more
4months old baby passing stool in green colour and foam like consistency,4times aday .Is it normal?
Stools in 4mo old: Green stools in a 4 mo old, 4 times a day can be pretty normal. Especially if you are starting to introduce new foods or if the baby is on medication. The consistency can change too from pasty to more formed (like adults-they can smell just as bad too). Beware though! If you see blood in the stools see your child's pediatrician. ...Read more
My 2 year old son has has loose bowel movements for 3 days it is powel yellow but every so often it's like slime with bits of brown and yellow bits ?
Virus?: One of the main concerns with diarrhea in small children is dehydration. It sounds like he might have a viral gastroenteritis causing his symptoms. It will get better on its own. You just have to make sure he drinks plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. If he starts vomiting a lot, complains of abdominal pain, gets high fever, he should be seen by his doc. If diarrhea gets worse, also call. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My four month old son just passed a dark grey stool that was very mushy and kind of sticky. Is this okay?
Normal: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris. It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile.Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs. ...Read more
Stool Color: If you asking if your son has dark stools because he rinks ea, it probably is. i am wondering why you let him drink so much tea? There is a fair amount of caffeine in tea and that is a concern for someone his age. Dark stools can have other causes. I would stop the tea for a while ad if the stool is still dark check with your doctor. Try juice or better yet water. ...Read more
Undigested formula: This is a very common complaint from parents. The Infants' immature digestive system takes longer to digest the milk protein. My baby 10 month old baby passing out 5 t 6 times stool a day from last 15 days is it normal ? stool is soft and various colors
Observation: Your 10 month old baby has more frequent stools for 15 days. Your baby's stool is "soft and various colors". Changes in stool patterns in infants have numerous causes such as introducing new foods and infections. Minor viral head colds can also be responsible. The absence of fever, a good appetite, and lack of irritability is a good sign. See your doctor if fever or persistence beyond 3 weeks. ...Read more
My 6 mth old had a small amount of mucus with dark brown hard bm. 27kcal formula , 2tsp of lactulose daily, just started solids, usually constipated?
See Pediatrician: Based on the information given, it sounds as though the child has other health/gi problems- 27 kcal is a very concentrated formula (breast milk and standard formulas are 20kcal/oz) and can contribute to constipation, which i assume is why you're already using lactulose. By itself, mucus in stool may or may not be worrisome, but any changes in premature or previously ill infants need assessment. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Common finding: This often reflects a tear duct that is not draining well due to its small size and a bit of debris. Gentle cleaning with a clean cloth or tissue will remove the material.Rolling the tip of a finger from the nose down over the inner corner of the eye can compress the tear sac and open the duct over time.If the lids become red and inflamed talk with your doc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
