Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) vs Grapefruit Juice. The juice has some implications for medications. Does GSE have the same implications?
Good question. The chemicals in grapefruit juice that interact with medications include naringin, bergamottin and dihydroxybergamottin. These are not found in significant amounts in Grapefruit seed extract (GSE). While pure GSE is a safe antimicrobial, I would be cautious about internal use as many products are adulterated- see http://tinyurl. Com/zxcodbt

Proven vs unproven: By definition, "alternative" is different than modern western medicine. Generally any drug, herb, treatment, or procedure that stands up to rigorous scientific scrutiny is included in modern medicine. The problem is that many alternative practices, herbs etc do not stand up to scientific scrutiny and cannot be shown to work. They therefore remain "alternative". Be careful and watch your wallet. ...Read more

White fury tongue? I have had a white "fury" tongue for about 2 weeks. I'm not dehydrated because I drink several cups of water a day. I have tried coconut oil and grapefruit seed extract thinking it was thrush but they are not working. My tongue is split
Usually: Usually a white coating on the tongue represents debris, bacteria and dead cells that makes it look white. The "furry" presentation is due to the thin hair like filiform papilla that cover the dorsal surface of the tongue. This presentation is usually harmless and temporary. White lesions in the mouth can also be indicative of more serious conditions such as infections, autoimmune diseases and precancerous / cancerous lesions. For this reason it is recommended that you be evaluated by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon should the condition persist more than a week. ...Read more
