I consumed maximum dose of undiluted grapefruit seed extract for several days (not knowing it should be diluted). Is it dangerous? What are the risks?
Grapefruit extract: No likely. Risks are that you are spending money for unproven stuff. Spend it more wisely.
I have history of diverticulitis and wanted to know if its ok to take grapefruit seed extract daily as part of my diet to avoid another attack?
Assuming that: You had sigmoid diverticulitis, a high fiber diet is generally recommended. However, it is at best marginally effective especially in the short term. Grapefruit seed extract seems harmless enough to me, but you should consult with your doctor or gi specialist, just to make sure.See 1 more doctor answer
Forget about it!!!: Why are you taking supplements that have not had any placebo controlled, double blind studies that prove its worth (like most medicines have to do?) and how about interaction with other needed medications? Back to headaches and chest pain: please have both of them checked by your pcp, soon!See 1 more doctor answer
Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) vs Grapefruit Juice. The juice has some implications for medications. Does GSE have the same implications?
No, however...: Good question. The chemicals in grapefruit juice that interact with medications include naringin, bergamottin and dihydroxybergamottin. These are not found in significant amounts in Grapefruit seed extract (GSE). While pure GSE is a safe antimicrobial, I would be cautious about internal use as many products are adulterated- see http://tinyurl. Proven vs unproven: By definition, "alternative" is different than modern western medicine. Generally any drug, herb, treatment, or procedure that stands up to rigorous scientific scrutiny is included in modern medicine. The problem is that many alternative practices, herbs etc do not stand up to scientific scrutiny and cannot be shown to work. They therefore remain "alternative". Be careful and watch your wallet.
Many Options: There are a lot of way to treat psoriasis, and a dermatologist can help you decide which one fits your lifestyle best. It should be noted that psoriasis can be driven into a lasting remission, but there is no permanent cure.
Grape or grapefruit?: Grape seed extract may help with chronic venous insufficiency, high cholesterol, reduces swelling caused by injury, helps with eye disease related to diabetes, and contains antioxidants. Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is a substance derived from the seeds, membranes, and the pulp of grapefruit and is used as a broad-spectrum, non-toxic, antimicrobial product. What's the goals of therapy in UR case?
Yes: Most medications should be taken in steps. Take them with at least a 30 minute interval. Get advise from your health store. All the best.See 1 more doctor answer
See Dermatologist: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that may, among other areas, affect the scalp region. Depending on the severity of the psoriasis in general, and scalp psoriasis in particular, a dermatologist may use topical steroids and/or systemic therapy with medications such a Methotrexate or newer generation of medications generally referred as "biologics.".
Mostly like not: I am afraid that this would most likely not help. See your dermatologist for help.
Different options: Typically you would think of using an over the counter product like Eucerin for patches of very dry skin such as psoriasis. Oily skin is a completely different condition and you would consider a "liquid cleanser" for oily skin around the nose area. If you are not certain that you have psoriasis (c pic) then seeing Dermatologist could really help you select the best therapy for a good complexion.
