Can i eat grapefruit at the same time of taking metformin?

Can i eat grapefruit at the same time of taking metformin?

Best not to: Altho many sites say there's no interaction between them, one study on animals showed an increase in Lactic Acid when the 2 r used. Taking them at different times of day doesn't help since grapefruit can interact 24 hrs later or more. Always best to take medications with full glass of water unless directed otherwise.

Drug interactions between tamsulosin and metoprolol? And interactions between tamsulosin and gyberide/metformin?

Dizziness: Tamsulosin should not interact with glyburide or metformin. The drug is known to cause potential dizziness or aesthenia (feelings of weakness) and if you are on metoprolol for high blood pressure these are side effects to watch out for. Also tamsilosin can cause "floppy iris syndrome" so need to inform opthomologist if any eye surgery is planned in future. ...Read more

I am taking DHEA supplements and 500 mg of metformin per day yet my blood sugar keeps rising. is there a negative interaction with DHEA and Metformin?

I am taking DHEA supplements and 500 mg of metformin per day yet my blood sugar keeps rising. is there a negative interaction with DHEA and Metformin?

Low metformin dose: Hi. That's a generally subtherapeutic dose of metformin. The DHEA won't hurt the metformin action as far as we know, but won't help anything either (except the DHEA manufacturers' bank accounts). If you're not controlled on metformin 500 mg/day, ramp it up to the maximum and add more diabetes drugs until you're controlled. Don't stay poorly controlled; that's high risk for complications. Good luck ...Read more
