I have an ingrown toenail. The infections seems to have gone away but I have hypertrophic granulation tissue. will it go away? Is it okay to have?
Depends.: As an ingrown toenail becomes worse, it will set off the body's inflammatory response to it. Redness, swelling and pain will start. The granulation is in response to the increased tissue irritation caused by the ingrowing nail. The tissue may or may not become infected as bacteria is allowed to enter the tissue.
