Yes!: But this treats the attack only. You need to be on a uric-acid lowering agent. Allopurinol or uloric (if renal probs exist, and/or probenencid, usually combined with colchine, so I lower pill burden for my patients! ...Read more

Wrong order!: Taking Allopurinol during an attack will worsen and prolong it. My regimen is this: establish diagnosis. You can start an nsaid, inject the affected joint (s) with steroids, start colchicine, bid is adequate with the other meds. Gout: Stop taking everything in the cabinet. See your podiatrist or a family physician that can treat gout (more rare than you think). It may be that your Febuxostat is causing your gout flare.
