If I got lightly scratched by an unvaccinated cat a month ago and the cat is still living with no signs of rabies is it posdible that I got rabies from the scratch?

Unlikely: If the cat is well 1 month after your injury then no. We generally watch questionable animals for 10 days. All the best. ...Read more

What happens if you got rabies does the infected area get red?

What happens if you got rabies does the infected area get red?

Bite wound infected: Rabies works from the inside - so you won't see any outward redness or signs like that. The bite area however, could certainly get red, painful and ooze pus. If this is happening, you really need to see a doc to get help. You don't want this infection getting out of control. Obviously if it was a real rabies risk you need to follow up with the docs to make sure you don't get it. Take care. ...Read more

I got scratched by a car it's been like a month and so and its a stray cat do you think I got rabies or cat scratch fever ?

Locate the cat: Cats, dogs and ferrets are the 3 animals that we know we can monitor them for 10 days - and if they are 'fine' after a bite or a scratch, then you won't get rabies. The problem is, cats CAN be instrumental in propagating disease - so I would take this seriously. About 1 in 1000 rabies cases is from a scratch, so the odds are low - but I would still see a doc about this for more info. ...Read more

Fortunately rabies is quite rare in the US, so it depends on where this occurred and how. Definitely you should talk more with a doctor about this. Luckily with rabies there is time for action - so please see an MD. ...Read more

My rabbit licked me on my fingers and after that i rubbed my eyes with that fingers, 2 hours later i got rabies vaccine 1 dose am i on safe side??

Rabies risks: Dogs primarily are responsible for transmission of rabies to people. It would be extremely rare for a rabbit to transmit rabies. In addition, your rabbit is not sick so the risk is essentially zero. Not sure "why" someone gave u a rabies vaccine shot for that-- I don't think u need any more treatment. Try not to worry about this! ...Read more

Rabies: Worrying will not help. You already sound worried. You have done the correct thing in a country which has the highest frequency of rabies in the world. The next step is to watch the dog and if it appears ill to sacrifice it and examine the tissues. ...Read more

I got my rabies vaceens all done but then i kissed my boyfriend i am really concerned about that he get the virus but appearently they said it is a low percentage but other then we cant give blood to another person for uone year is that mean are we still

I got my rabies vaceens all done but then i kissed my boyfriend i am really concerned about that he get the virus but appearently they said it is a low percentage but other then we cant give blood to another person for uone year is that mean are we still

Do not be: concerned about transmitting anything related to the rabies vaccine you received. Rabies is a non-live vaccine and poses no risk to the recipients of blood. I suspect the reason you may have been told to wait a year after the vaccine is if you sustained a bite which prompted the vaccine. Blood donation is deferred in this situation, being VERY cautious. Kissing is OK! ...Read more

Might be silly but my puppy got his Rabies vaccine on Tuesday. Is the vaccine a live virus? If he bit me, could he possibly infect me with Rabies?

Not live vaccine: No questions are silly and u shd not hesitate to ask! Rabies vaccine is not a live but killed virus vaccine. Chances of having Rabies in a puppy to infect you especially in California is remote! However if u remain worried for any reason best would be to have ur doctor talk to the state health department and discuss local conditions. Latter will give u very appropriate advice. ...Read more

Advice from someone who knows about rabies. Got bit 3 years ago by a stray cat. Should I still get vaccinated? Will I get rabies without it still?

Rabies: Only very, very rarely can rabies show up after this amount of time. Usually, it's less than 3 months. If you watched the cat, and it didn't show signs of rabies, you are fine. Otherwise, I'd contact your health department, or your doctor, and find out their recommendations. ...Read more

2015 I got my anti rabies vaccine shots, but i got bitten again by a dog. do i need to get shots again?

Maybe: You are considered protected for at least 2 years after completing the series, After that point people at risk get a booster or have their antibodies checked. You may want to check with local health agency to see if your exposure was considered worthy of a vaccine. If there is no rabies in the area it may not be needed to begin with. ...Read more
