When should I put my 22 month old in a toddler bed? How can I get him to drink from a sippy cup instead of a bottle?

When should I put my 22 month old in a toddler bed? How can I get him to drink from a sippy cup instead of a bottle?

About now..: If your child is getting to big for the crib and has tried to get out, it is time to get him out of there! consider moving the crib mattress on to the floor so he can learn not to fall and if he does he will just roll off. As far as the bottle, its is way past due to take him off it. Remember kids learn by association, teach him to drink from a regular cup or from a straw. ...Read more

Smart kid: If you are there he wants the real thing.Try being absent during the process and have someone else feed him when he is hungry. When he decides there is milk to be had that way he will adapt.Later on he may be willing to do so when you offer it, but he must be motivated and try it first from someone else. ...Read more

I have a 9 month old baby girl. I accidentally bought children's acetametiphen instead of infant's. Do I need to go exchange it or is there a dosage appropriate for infants?

I have a 9 month old baby girl. I accidentally bought children's acetametiphen instead of infant's. Do I need to go exchange it or is there a dosage appropriate for infants?

Fine to use : As long as the proper dosage per weight is given, it doesn't matter what preparation you use. The infant drop preparation is more concentrated & helps moms who struggle with kids to get the medicine down. Verify the concentration of the product you bought. Most have 160mg/5ml. The average 9m girl @ ~19lb would get 1/2 tsp every 6-8h. ...Read more

My 2 month old baby has severe colic and I have been told to feed her a tablespoon of warm water and brown sugar, is this just another wives tale?

My 2 month old baby has severe colic and I have been told to feed her a tablespoon of warm water and brown sugar, is this just another wives tale?

Coiic can be Fixed: I believe that " colic" has a cause and if found, can be corrected. Among other things, hidden acid reflux, formula intolerance, poor mechanics of feeding and burping, and an incompatable bottle or nipple can be causes. These are fixable. In our practice less than 0.05% have "colic". Good exploration should find this cause. The suger is designed to increase the bowels to pass gas. ...Read more

I'm a mom to 11mnth baby.i took a pill of phentermine(30mg),so i stop breastfeed for the last 76 hours (pump and dump the milk)is it safe to bf now?

See detail answer: Phentermine is an unsafe drug to take during lactation. Half-life elimination of Phentermine is about 20 hours.Assume you have no liver or kidney disease and you only accidentally took one pill of 30 mg then probably it is OK to resume breast feeding because it is already passed 76 hours. ...Read more

Can a baby catch herpes from a pacifier ? another child had my 7week old son pacifier I rinsed it off with hot water just a little soap I'm worried

Remote possibility: Herpes virus doesn't survive on outside objects like pacifier etc. fir very long. It must be in living cells to spread the infection, such as through intimate contacts etc. Keeping an eye on the baby for development of any herpes blister would be prudent nonetheless, although less likely in this scenario. My 5 month old has diaherra I have not introduced any new baby food in over a week. Should I suspend formula for now? What liquids can I give her inst

Don't panic: Most diarrhea is due to a virus, short lived and not terribly impactful. Occasionally after a bad stomach virus, kids can become temporarily lactose intolerant, so pedialyte is a good alternative for 1-2 days. However, for mild to moderate diarrhea, formula supplemented with pedialyte is fine. If vomiting or having high fever, consult your pediatrician. ...Read more
