Other diseases can mimic a UTI such as interstitial cystitis, polycystic kidney disease, lithium toxicity, sarcoidosis, & bladder cancer. Patients with prior surgery, retained surgical material, stents, kidney stones or abscess may require long term antibiotics for treatment & suppression. A specialist can sort out these problems.
