Golytely Constipation Will Cramps
My local ER gave me golytely (polyethylene glycol) for severe constipation; will it give me cramps?
Peg is the basis of a number of laxatives (i.e. Polyethylene glycol 3350, or miralax). I'm 20 years old and have cramps from constipation. I tried taking miralax (polyethylene glycol) but it hasn't done anything yet.
How can I know if I am really backed up, ?
Went to ER due to severe constipation. Was prescribed 4 L of GoLytely (polyethylene glycol). Have had 56oz over 3 hrs & no BM yet. Is this normal to have not gone yet?

Dose-dependent: The more MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) you take the faster it works. As a once over-the-counter dosed laxative you may not see results for 3-4 days, but as a multi-dosed colonoscopy preparation (when used under doctor's advice) expect laxation within hours. Im on hyosycamine...But it gives me constipation...Is miralax (polyethylene glycol) safe to take while on hyosycamine? If not, suggestions?

Safe and a blessing: Chronic stool retention has been around as a problem for decades. We used to use flavored mineral oil which was messy and leached out vitamins.
