Goiter Non Toxic Uninodular
A nodule: Hi. A non-toxic uninodular goiter means you have a nodule in the thyroid that is NOT autonomously over-producing thyroid hormone. There is a risk the nodule is a thyroid cancer, so your doctor will probably send you to an endocrinologist to get a fine needle aspiration biopsy. If the nodule is benign, you leave it alone; if it's cancer, you head down that path (most are benign). Good luck. ...Read more
Thyroid function: Hi. With a toxic multinodular goiter (MNG), the patient is hyperthyroid, whereas with a non-toxic MNG, the patient has normal thyroid function, so thyroid function is the difference. From the uptake and scan above, your TSH should be low, which indicates hyperthyroidism. The treatment is 1)antithyroid drug, 2)i-131 ablation, 3)surgery. With itp, maybe hold off on surgery for now. Please discuss all of this with your doctor. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
