I lost my mucous plug at 31 weeks and am dilated at 2 and effaced at 50 when will i go into labor?

Impossible: It's impossible to say when you will go into labor. It's possible that you will make it to term and won't go into labor pre-term, it's also possible that you will go into pre-term labor. Best is to avoid intercourse or sex. Avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting. It looks like you are already on Procardia (nifedipine) to help prevent preterm contractions. Best of luck ; hopefully baby stays until 37w. ...Read more

35 weeks pregnant 2 CM dilated 80 effaced with pre-term labor scare at 30 weeks, am I more likely to go into labor in days or weeks?

35 weeks pregnant 2 CM dilated 80 effaced with pre-term labor scare at 30 weeks, am I more likely to go into labor in days or weeks?

Unpredictable: If you've had vaginal births in the past or preterm births in the past, then the likelihood of early delivery is greater, but I have also had patients get up to 4cm and just stay that way for weeks, delivering ultimately at term. It is somewhat unpredictable, but with your cervix as it is, you should be closely followed by your OB. No steroids needed at this point. NICU care if born early. ...Read more

Had inc. placenta previa at 16 weeks, moved up around 21 wks (3cm+) now at almost 32 wks u/s showing 1.5cm fr cervix. why did it move down again?

Doesn’t move: The placenta does not actually move. It is attached to the uterus. As the uterus grows the placenta can be pulled safely away from the cervix. In some cases it does not. It just depends on where the placenta is attached. In general it needs to be more than 2 cm from the cervix to permit vaginal delivery ...Read more

37 weeks 3 1/2 CM 50% effaced losing mucus plug that is brownish or pink over last 3 days. Will I go into active labor soon?

Mucus plug: The mucus plug is usually dark green to brownish and the size of the palm of your hand. You're probably having some bloody show from last office exam. When you go into labor has more to do with your uterus being ready to go into labor. I imagine it may be from today to the next week or so, but there's no way to guarantee ...Read more

What causes a subchorionic hemorrhage? Started at 13 weeks and lost baby at 16 weeks. Passed large clots at 15 weeks & 10 hours before miscarriage

That can be difficul: To say. A placental abruption is what this is called when it happens later in pregnancy, usually due to trauma. Your loss is classified as a miscarriage though it did happen later than usual. The bleeding can be like a chain reaction, blood, cramping then more tearing away. There is a good chance u will be fine with the next pregnancy but review this with your doctor. There may not b a gd answ. ...Read more

My triplet now 9 months they can't set down alone is it normal (they delivered at 30 weeks ) ?

Maybe: All developmental milestones for the first yr to yr and a half should be adjusted for babies prematurity. Your average term born will prop sit for several seconds at 6 months and get to sitting and be stable by 9. Since your babies came more than 2 months early i would not expect them to be stable in sitting yet. ...Read more

Yes: With an HCG that high you are almost definitely pregnant. The only concern would be that you could possibly have an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. Be sure to follow up with your OB. If you develop severe increase in the pain or severe bleeding, go to the ER. Hope this helps! ...Read more

I am 37 weeks/4 days pregnant & had my bpp done today.I was told my baby has dropped. How far should the fetus' head drop into the pelvis before labor?

All the way: When you start labor, the baby's head will eventually drop fully down into the pelvic bowl, which is the entrance to the birth canal. This will be happening over the next several weeks. You should have your "go bag" packed and sitting by the door. It won't be long now! :-). ...Read more
