Probably benign: Enlarged nodes in a 14 year old are probably not serious, but if they are getting larger, they should be investigated. Measure them carefully and repeat in two or three weeks. If they've not changed in six months, they are probably nothing. ...Read more

Get it checked...: We have only few glands in the back of neck and swelling/lumps you feel are often from sebaceous cyst, which if infected can cause pain and may look like the one in picture here. Lymphnodes are typically small and mobile but can get larger and sore if there is infection near-by the area. If it is bothering you, get it checked. Boil can be lanced and may need antibiotic. Lymphnodes: Your symptoms as described appear to be possibly due to some underlying infectious process or something that would cause the swollen nodes, and now Shortness of breath.
