Perhaps: This sounds like you have or have had an infections that has caused this regional lymph node to react to the infection. Is there fever, redness, streaking, discharge? Often these will improve or go away with observation. Warm compresses along with Ibuprofen or acetamenophn may help. Often antibiotics may be needed to rid the underlying infeciton. Yes: The glands will always be there but will usually peak in size within a week of the infection and slowly decrease in size over a 3-4 wks. If another process stimulates them they may not shrink completely. I rarely have to do anything with glands in these locations. ...Read more
