Given Mmr Vaccine
It saves lives: Your grandparents were in the last generation to routinely face death or disability due to these preventable illnesses. Their parents welcomed the vaccines as they were developed rather than face a funeral. Today those memories are gone & people focus on the temporary discomfort of shots, fake research of doc's that lost their licenses or the self appointed expert opinions of a playboy centerfold. ...Read more
Latin word for cow, vacca, because of the smallpox/cowpox work of edward jenner, vaccination is the administration of a substance, live organism or otherwise, that stimulates the immune response to prevent a specific disease. Primarily a preventative procedure, some vaccines can ...Read more
Iga slightly low at 40 mg/dl. Everything else normal. I was given mmr vaccine as part of immigration physical. Is this live vaccine ok for me?
Yes: Responsiveness to the vaccine includes the IgM and IgG systems while IgA is more involved with gut germ exposures. There is no reason to think it would not work for you or cause you harm. ...Read more

Can you tell me one reason why the government still reccomends that all children are given the MMR vaccine.?
To avoid diseases: As long as there is international air travel and diseases that can be passed during incubation, we will need to vaccinate. Recent MMR outbreaks around Houston have been traced to imported cases (International Airport) that brought foreign cases into the area, that spread to unvaccinated or partially vaccinated kids. Measles can kill, so vaccines remain important. ...Read more
YES HE CAN BE:
The vaccine contains chick cells and not the egg yolk or white
in very severe cases of egg allergy you have to observe the child and keep adrenaline ready and facilities for intubation, but that kind of reaction is very rare.
Mild to moderate egg allergy is no containdication for MMR vaccine administration. ...Read more
Why is the MMR vaccine given after 12 months? We're going abroad and they recommend I give it to my 6 months old, but I am scared of the side effects.
If going abroad..: The reason why the cdc recommended it at 6mo if going abroad is because in europe (france especially) there has been a massive outbreak of measles (parents aren't vaccinating their kids). Your 6mo old is going to be on a plane with international travelers who will be sick, coughing, and spreading germs. It is very contagious. You do not want your baby to get measles. ...Read more
But it is!!: Mmr if given in infancy and childhood will generally give a person lifelong immunity. In some cases, it does not and the vaccine can be repeated in adulthood. The original MMR was given once around 12-15 months for about 23 years when they realized a few were not protected by college age. After about 1990 we began giving a booster & that seemed to fix the issue. ...Read more
MMR is given SQ: Mmr should be given sq as that route gives the best antibody response and any deviation from that recommendation can result in inadequate protection. However, response to MMR vaccine probably will not be affected if administered by the im rather than sq route, and, therefore, repeating the dose is not necessary. ...Read more
How many doses of MMR vaccine is to be given to 18 year old adult? And what are its side effects in them?
Depends: The routine in the US is one dose at age 1 yr and again at 4-5.It is never repeated unless a prenatal workup shows a low protection level. If you never got it in childhood, it would be reasonable to do 2 doses at least a month apart to be sure adequate response was obtained. Some teens or adults note some transient joint pain during the weeks following the vaccine. ...Read more
Does the MMR vaccine cause autism. Is it ok to have other vaccinations at the same time. I believe children are given 2 others with the MMR at 12 mths?
No: Vaccine haters in the 80's told us they caused cp, in the 90's crib death ; now autism. Court testimony revealed a money making hoax behind the MMR scare and the dr lost his license to practice. The vaccines have been the single best lifesaver for kids in a hundred years. The number given at one time has been proven safe and effective. Get them all and be safe. ...Read more
Think about it: As long as there are pockets of active disease in the world we need the population protected. A person incubating one of these sometimes deadly diseases can board a plane & be in your town/grocery/mall/school a day later spreading the germs. Without protection the population goes back to the way it was in the 1800's when people died by the tens of thousands from these diseases. ...Read more

No waiting: As long as you feel well, you can do your usual workout. Some feel keeping the arm that was "shot up" active lessens next day soreness. Keep hydrated. Only limit yourself if you are running a fever, and listen to your body if tired or sore--take a rest day if feeling unwell. ...Read more

I did for mine: Look at the united kingdom's mumps crisis in which 57, 000 cases of mumps alone occurred in 2005 most in young people ages 15-24. Mumps, while often benign, brings risk for pancreatitis, encephalitis, & infertility through inflammation of testes. Kids were not immunized there. Europe's current measles crisis has 90% of cases among adults and teens who were never vaccinated. The numbers are profound. ...Read more
Doses are same but:: About 5% of people don't respond to 1st dose of mmr. The reason for the second dose is to catch those non responders & give them a chance to develop an immune response to measles, mumps and rubella too. It also appears that seeing the MMR vaccine a second time may, in fact, stimulate (somewhat) a better antibody build up in those who were able to react the first time around so 2 doses best for all. ...Read more

What are the dangers of the MMR vaccine for toddlers? That's the. One vaccine that I'm nervous about....
No: There was a small study many years ago funded (fraudulently not disclosed) by the anti vaccine lobbyist lawyers which resulted in some suggestion of this. It was later retracted by the Lancet when this was disclosed. Many subsequent years of global research has not shown any association. Many children have died from the devastating effects of this misinformation. ...Read more
