Can i take eleuthero siberian ginseng extract if i'm taking Lexapro (escitalopram) and ramipril?

Can i take eleuthero siberian ginseng extract if i'm taking Lexapro (escitalopram) and ramipril?

Probably not : Siberian ginseng can inhibit the metabolism of ace inhibitors (such as ramipril) -- making it build up in your system and possibly cause your blood pressure to be too low. One review also suggested siberian ginseng could inhibit metabolism of some antidepressants. You would not want either of these results! ...Read more

Ginkgo biloba (ginkgolic acid), what are the benefits?

Ginkgo biloba (ginkgolic acid), what are the benefits?

Tricky: since recent studies say that nearly all ginko supplements may have many things in them, but ginko is almost never one of them. In theory it has some anti-platelet action and some ability to increase the neurotransmitter that is low in Alzheimers. But it doesn't bring back brain, so, VERY LIMITED role in dementia and that's it. Assuming you actually have it. ...Read more

On Prozac&vyvanse and want to know if I can take supp evening primrose ginkgo biloba fish oil acidophilus L-arginine ginseng damiana gotu kola gre tea?

Why????: None of the things you mention are of the slightest benefit for anything. They are sold by com men to suckers in order to cheat them out of their money. Are there drug/herb interactions taking 30mg escitalopram, 300 mg modafinil and 400mg rhodiola rosea?

Rhodeola Rosea: I would not recommend the combination, since it has MAO (mono amine oxidase) inhibiting properties, which contraindicates combining it with serotonergic agents such as lexapro, (escitalopram) due to potential for serotonin syndrome. Also, no enough scientific evidence to suggest its use to supplement mood elevation. ...Read more

Is gingko biloba and maca root safe supplements to take fot ssri induced sexual dysfunction? Currently on 30mg fluoxetine/day. Dosages? Other herbs?

Probably safe but...: There are some concerns gingko with fluoxetine might increase risk of seizures but it's unlikely. There are no known interactions with maca. BUT these are unlikely to help. The best solution is to stop fluoxetine and try different treatments but this should only be done with help of a doctor. Other antidepressants such as bupropion cause less dysfunction. Consider non-pharmacologic Rx-see comment: ...Read more

Drug interactions with niacin atenolol vit c magnesium iron Zoloft (sertraline) melatonin and armour ?

Epocrates check: A quick check on my trusty med database program reveals 3 main negative interactions with those meds listed. Two of them are with armour. The armour interacts with both the iron and magnesium making the thyroid med less absorbed, so separate these vitamins from your armour by at least 4 hrs. The other major interaction is atenolol and niacin. Less cholesterol lowering effect and overlowering of bp. ...Read more

Ginko and normier: I would avoid ginkgo unless you need some way to spend your money and waste it. You have no idea how it is made, what they add to it and if it is harmful or helpful. It is a supplement. There are no quality controls on them. Some add arsenic, mercury and viagra to supplements. Beware. Don't bet your life on them. ...Read more

Taking 2.5mg bisoprolol but also take various supplements worried about interactions garlic, folic acid, selenium, cod liver, Q10, evening primrose, vit e.

Sups. No Evidence: Supplements widely promoted, big business, but exempted from clinical trials, even need for honesty/accuracy on labels; see DSHEA Act 1994 which exempted all food supplements, thus no reliable data about group, much less individual benefits & downsides. Carvedilol has better track record than bisoprolol (both with ACEI) for heart function, mortality rates; yet both can ? lung bronchospasm, COPD. ...Read more
