Gianvi Vs Loryna
My daughter is overseas and I can't get a refill of her Loryna to her, but she can get Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) OTC. Is there any gap in effectiveness with the switch?
Should not be: She should take it in the same way. All the best. ...Read more

I'm on Loryna (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and I had sex on December 6th. My tracker said I wasn't fertile then. My ovul. Is today. I bled heavy Red yest., 2 week early. Pregnant?
Tracker?: Loryna (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is a combination (2-hormone) birth control pill. If a woman is taking the pills correctly, what's with the "tracker"? Women do not ovulate when on combination birth control pills. Women have no fertile days on those pills. They can have sex at any time on any day, and the birth control protection is the same... protected all the time, every day. If worried, just do a home pregnancy test. ...Read more

What EXACTLY does interfere with bcp (Yaz)? I've read all kinds of things, i.e. grapefruit. I don't know what's right. I'm aiming at perfect use.
No EXACT answer.: It can depend on a number of things. Some medications definitely interfere with its effect, including some (but not all (antibiotics. When reading the literature, remember, that only the effects of one class of a drug may be studied and shown to be safe. But some people take lots of drugs and supplements that alone may add minor risk, but when combined may have additive effects not reported. ...Read more
Does grapefruit interfere with bcp (Yaz)? And if it does, how much can I consume safely daily? I take them religiously and I'm aiming at perfect use.
Grapefruit and bcp: The level of serum estrogen might be higher when consuming grapefruit/grapefruit juice and birth control pills. While this does not reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills (rather, the opposite) one might notice increased symptoms of things like breast tenderness. ...Read more
I want to fall pregnant in six months. I am currently on yaz pills. What are the required preparations to assist with falling pregnant?
Hmmm....: Meet someone nice, date a while, get engaged, get married, relax, start having sex once or twice a day during the fertile days and hopefully get pregnant soon. The fertile days are about days 10-15 in a 28-day cycle. Of course, if a couple has sex every one or two days throughout the month, they don't have to think about fertile days. Start prenatal vitamins now, in case pregnancy happens later. ...Read more
Been on generic version of yaz for 2 yrs, the past few months I've been skipping my inactive pills. I keep spotting lightly/heavily. Is this normal?
OCP spotting: Today's OCP's (like "Yaz") are very low dose in estrogen. Not taking the "inactive pills" is safe if you don't "forget when to restart". It is best to skip only FIVE days not seven of inactive pills, and restart the active ones. It is common to have light spotting when on the low dose kinds of OCP. To avoid spotting, take within the hour of the one taken the previous day, and not in AM but PM. ...Read more
I take Yaz for 3yrs. This month for the 1st time I'm bleeding for 10 days, the last 5 of which the discharge is light, but thick&brown. Is it normal?
Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working. ...Read more
I started with Yaz since last week friday. Since then I am getting pains in my left leg. And it is getting worse every day.
Is it normal For Yaz pills to prolong your periods because I am taking them and the last time I went on my periods for 10 days?
Hi, I've just gone back on the pill (yaz) and been reading some scary things about this particular pill...should I be concerned??
It is a pretty common birth control pill.
If you are concerned it may be just birth control pills in general. You can always consider other forms of birth control.

Hi. I am on gianvi (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and I wasn't very great about taking them on time this month. Can I take a dosage of it as ec?
Yes: You can take 4 pills all at once. Then 4 more pills all at once 12 hours later. This dose will cause nausea so take a sea-sickness pill (like dramamine) 1 hour before taking each dose. You may want to think about using a different form of pregnancy prevention that requires less effort to remember it each day. The iuds or Nexplanon may be better choices. ...Read more
9 days late, last month I missed quite a few days of bc (gianvi) had brown period. After period I stopped the bc. 37days later, still no period, help?
Could I be pregnant? I have been on gianvi birth control for a couple years now. But in february I was put on azithromyacin as well as I ceased taking my pills. I had bleeding somewhere around february 16. Afterwards I began taking my active pills again o
As doctors, the first thing we do when we hear that a fertile woman is having a missed period or abnormal spotting, we check a pregnancy test. You can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period and a doctor's test can tell around when you should be getting your next period.
Since you have stopped and started your pills a few times, it makes it difficult to know if and when you could have ovulated. Definitely, anytime you stop the pill, it can cause withdrawal bleeding, but does not necessarily help predict ovulation. A pregnancy test can be accurate 3-4 weeks after you think you might have conceived so can either go by that or you should wait and see if/when you have your next period. Good luck! ...Read more
