Epigastric pain which is the tip of your stomach could mean either ulcer or gastritis
stay on liquid or light diet take either Prilosec or zantac (ranitidine) from over the counter with some anti acid make sure your bowels moving ok no constipation
if your symptoms does not improve your doctor should referred you for upper endoscopy

you could be having an ulcer that not related to your old gallbladder problem that diarrhea either related to high acid secretion associated with ulcer or still related to the bile dripping directly to you small intestine
avoid spicy and greasy food eat multiple small meals no greasy food avoid dairy product and see your doctor you might need scope

Garlic Intolerance: Sounds like you are intolerant of garlic. I have little tolerance for that herb unless prepared well. I dont think you have any disease but you may need to avoid garlic.
