Getting My Period Every Two Weeks
Hello there. I've been getting my period every two weeks for the last 3 months. I am sexually active, on a side note. Why would I get it so often?
Maybe not period: It might not be your period. See your GYN MD ASAP. Possibly some other mass causing the bleeding so often. Recall if the bleeding occurred about the same time as sexual activity and make note of this to report. Do not delay -- make the appointment-- tell them you are having this bleeding so frequently. Good Luck. (Be sure to stay hydrated and have enough iron in system) ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working. ...Read more
Need to Find Out: Good question. That is certainly not normal. Most common reason is a problem with ovulation (PCOS, thyroid issues, prolactin problems, etc). May be a problem of brain communication to your ovaries. Could be the ovaries actually failing. Or could be a physical reason (polyp, fibroids, etc). Would see your OBGYN to get some labs and begin an evaluation ...Read more

Flow may last 2 to 7 days. If you are having periods every 2 weeks that would not be considered normal. See your provider to evaluate this issue. ...Read more

Vaginal bleeding: Perhaps you have vaginal bleeding (vb) that is not related to your cycle. Go to a gynecologist (g) and have an ultrasound done of your uterus to see if your bleeding is coming from a bleeding fibroid. Have the g go over your hormonal levels and ask for the g's comments. Excessive vb for 5 months is clearly not normal and it needs to be evaluated before you become severely anemic. Good luck. ...Read more

Wrong Pill: Patients with pcos have a lot of "hormonal background noise" that can cause irregular cycles. Low dose or tricyclic birth control pills are not optimal for these patients.
