Great question: The infections a paramedic is exposed to can be significant, so you have to think seriously about your risk when you are immunosuppressed on both Methotrexate and prednisone. If it is your passion to be a paramedic then speak with some of them for their opinions about their exposures. Consider pleuritis: Considering your age, It is probably not your heart if you are otherwise healthy and robust. Pleuritis is ususally a viral infection that will go away with time. Arm sling, vitamin C: If you can move your arm, chances are that it is not fractured. So, most likely a soft tissue injury. Take some over the counter advil or aleve (naproxen) (if you are not allergic) and wear a sling to keep your arm still. If the pain continues or gets worse, get evaluated by a physician and get xray. For your cold symptoms, take 4 grams of vitamin C and an antihistamine (if not allergic). See MD if necessary ...Read more
