I have frequent which I take Imitrex (sumatriptan) for. I have yet to be told what could be causing them. I have fibromylagia and I understand that many people with this get frequent migraines. Is fibro the cause or could it be something else?
Associations: Not uncommon for migraine and fibromyalgia to be co-morbidities. Migraine is due to hypersensitivity of brain neurotransmitters to external and/or internal triggers. OVER USING IMITREX (sumatriptan): Serious side effects include heart arrhythmia (irregular heart beat)/palpitation, and rare heart attack especially older folks with risks. Being male at 61, it is a bit risky. Using 5x/wk is excessive. There are daily meds to help prevent migraine attacks and so i suggest consulting doc for eval and treatment. Is a great abortive migraine medication with common side effects chest tightness, weakness, nausea and stomach discomfort. Ask your doctor to prescribe antiemetic (e.g. Phenergan) it is used to treat allergy symptoms, nausea and vomiting and good combo with imitrex (sumatriptan).
