Get Rid Of Acne Home Remedy
Forget "home Rx": Forgive me... All acne's manageable, but despite testimonials about a disease that comes and goes, "natural" remedies don't work, and some are ludicrous (sleeping with your face soaked in honey...) your personal physician can clear you up using scientific medicine. This is the 21st century and it's your right -- your taxes fund the research that's made us the healthiest people who've ever lived. ...Read more
Good skin care: Retinoids (derivatives vitamin a) may be some of the most effective medications and available as retinols (over the counter) or as a prescription in the form of retin a (tretinoin) or accutane. A good skin care regimen (soap/moisturizer/acid) are best and the acne may not always be preventable or treatable due to natural hormone alterations. Discuss with your gynecologist and dermatologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why not real Rx?: Even in today's insane health-care system, you can get something that works. I start with topical clindamycin, plus benzoyl peroxide if there aren't a lot of blackheads or a retinoic acid derivative if there are. A woman is often cleared by the oral contraceptive pill. If it's harder to manage, i add a systemic antibiotic appropriate for the person. Dermatologists have the big guns. Good luck. ...Read more
Home remedies: Soap and water washing. Try applying small amounts of real lemon juice to the spots daily. Short amounts of sun exposure every other day (15 minutes) these are home remedies. For otc remedies try 4-5% benzoyl peroxide. Use a sunscreen that has glycolic acid base. Salicylic acid based products will also be effective. Taking a zinc supplement with a good multiple vitamins is also beneficial. ...Read more
They don't work: The over-the-counter product that works best is benzoyl peroxide. None of the home remedies you'll find online (lemon juice, sleeping with your face smeared with honey) will work, and i suspect some of them are cruel pranks on folks with an already-cruel disease. And no rx of any kind words very fast. Please get with a scientific physician. He/she can help. ...Read more
OTC Acne Treatment: If one is getting scarring (not staining, but depressed or pitted scars), one should seek a medical opinion for prescription treatment. The following can be used: clogged pores (whiteheads and blackheads): - retinol at bedtime - salicylic acid - glycolic acid - benzoyl peroxide inflammatory lesions (red bumps and/or pus bumps) - benzoyl peroxide gel - topical sulfur. ...Read more
Will disappoint: Over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide is your best non-prescription rx. Nothing you can do at home will touch scars. If you are the patient are are avoiding a physician's office visit, that is your business, but if you are responsible for the health of a teen who already has scarring, you have a duty to get him/her effective treatment that only evidence-based medicine is likely to provide. ...Read more
Acne Irregular Scars: Acne scars cause an irregular surface with the dark shadows where deepest scars. This can be worse when the skin is dry; therefore, consider using herbal nutrients to skin. Examples are vitamin E oil, cammomille or other oils, coconut butter, aloe vera, etc. (Avoid causing more scars with acne from oils or diet.) No known home remedies to replace dermabrasion/ laser resurfacing or injecting filler ...Read more
There aren't any: The internet is full of stories about people treating their pimples with vinegar, fried eggs, squeezed lemons, and sleeping plastered with honey. These won't work and i suspect some of the authors are cruel pranksters. Acne is a chronic, non-lifestyle-related, non-diet-related disease for which you deserve effective, scientific rx. Even in our insane health care system, a dr. Should be there 4u. ...Read more
Milk of magnesium: Buy the regular strength. Spread over face with fingers or cotton ball or tissue. Let it dry and it creates a mask. It tempers the inflammation of acne. You can put it on in the morning, and once dry, apply make up over it. This is what movie stars do so make up has same appearance all day long. The mask absorbs all the face sweat under the filming lights. Also use at night before bed. ...Read more
Tea tree oil: A topical application of tea tree oil 5% may be as effective as topical benzoyl peroxide 5% (though its effects came on more slowly) but without the excessive drying of the benzoyl peroxide. The mechanism of action of tea tree oil has not been determined, but it appears to be broadly antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. ...Read more
