Response to therapy: Assuming that you have narrowed the cause of your cough down to these things, it all depends on your response to medical therapy and avoidance of triggers. Your doctor could help with a trial of an inhaler like albuterol and you could also try medicines that are available over the counter for GERD and allergies. If you respond to symptomatic care, that may be al that you need. Also consider URIs. ...Read more

Possibly: Glad your exams seem tto rule out major issues. Still, you want to relieve this. Before medication for anxiety, try CBT therapy to evaluate it. Combo w/ meds works better than meds alone if they're even needed. Best wishes! ...Read more

Big picture: My first concerns are whether your gerd is real -- get endoscoped, and it may be the cause of your cough and if so this is dangerous. There are several rnp's that speak either to mixed connective tissue disease or scleroderma; the latter's unlikely with no raynaud's though gerd can mimic the esophageal troubles. Reflux: All the symptoms you mentioned can be caused by ger. In ger! , acid from your stomach can backflow to your lungs to cause a cough and bloody mucusas well as causinf a sore throat. ...Read more

Long time.....: Gerd can lead to bronchospasm which, in turn, leads to cough. The cough will likely continue until the getd is adequately treated. If the cough continues after that, then there may be other factors contributing to the cough including bronchospasm from another etiology, post-nasal drip, etc. So, if you are still coughing, see your doctor again.
