It can be tough.: Your conundrum is a common one. Throat clearing can be a common sign of various conditions, including GERD but also allergies and common viral infections. It's difficult to tell the difference at times, but if your GERD is and has been well controlled, then perhaps you should consider alternatives. Other viral symptoms or nasal/eye itching could point you toward a cold or allergies, respectively. ...Read more

See ENT: I believe you need an ENT consult to evaluate your throat situation. You may not have GERD but possibly LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) which is not neccessarily associated with heart burns. Your ENT doctor should be able to help you on this issue. ...Read more

Possible: Or rather LPR, laryngopharyngeal reflux, that's when the stomach acid reaches the throat in GERD. Kindly ask your doctor to refer you to an ENT specialist who would examine your upper airways too for the possible post nasal drip as well, you may need treatment for both conditions, LPR can be controlled when GERD is controlled, good luck ...Read more
