27. Gerd/reflux/LPR or damage caused by excess acid cause feel food going through your esophagus? I also have throat clearing, altered vocal range,

GERD: Based on your symptoms, you should be treated with a PPI and see a gastroenterologist for an endoscopic. With your respiratory symptoms, I would be concerned that your reflux involves your lungs. All the best and be reviewed soon. ...Read more

LPR? Excessive mucus in throat throat clearing, neg results 2 ENts. have had 2 nissens for GeRD 10yrs apart. history asthma(not now)All meds haven't worked

LPR?: Sounds like you should clear this up with your docs. May need definitive study such as pH probe or CT sinus / nasopharyngoscope / repeat EGD if these have not already been done. If two ENT docs agree and the meds haven't worked we may need to consider an alternate diagnosis. ...Read more

How can I tell if my throat clearing (phlegm) is due to reflux or post nasal drip? I have GERD but I take a PPI & I thought it was controlled.

It can be tough.: Your conundrum is a common one. Throat clearing can be a common sign of various conditions, including GERD but also allergies and common viral infections. It's difficult to tell the difference at times, but if your GERD is and has been well controlled, then perhaps you should consider alternatives. Other viral symptoms or nasal/eye itching could point you toward a cold or allergies, respectively. ...Read more

I've had hoarseness and frequent throat clearing for years.Always thought it was post nasal drip but lately developed heart burn. Likely gerd related?

Possible: Or rather LPR, laryngopharyngeal reflux, that's when the stomach acid reaches the throat in GERD. Kindly ask your doctor to refer you to an ENT specialist who would examine your upper airways too for the possible post nasal drip as well, you may need treatment for both conditions, LPR can be controlled when GERD is controlled, good luck ...Read more

I have post nasal drip, throat clearing, soreness @upper rear of mouth/top of throat. Intermittent feeling of throat being restricted?not gerd/allergy

See ENT: I believe you need an ENT consult to evaluate your throat situation. You may not have GERD but possibly LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) which is not neccessarily associated with heart burns. Your ENT doctor should be able to help you on this issue. ...Read more

Several: The smoking is an irritant. It can increase secretions. It can cause acid reflux. It can cause swelling of the throat and lymph nodes around it. It stimulates the gag reflex. It took me years to stop. Be kind. Patches seem to work since they don't jerk your nicotine level up and down. Keep using them for 2+ months. Have a doctor look at his throat if it gets worse or does't improve. ...Read more

I have a TSH level of 0.06. I take eltroxin 100mcg. Anything lower I get hives. Sore throat and puffiness when clearing. Thyroid small tho and gerd. ?

Low TSH: The TSH is low. That would imply that your FT4 is high (needs to be measured), which would imply that your levothyroxine dose is too high, or your thyroid is producing some hormone on top of what you are taking in the pill. You and your doctor (perhaps with help of an Endocrinologist) need to figure this out. Long term, it is not healthy to be this way. Bone loss, stress on the heart. ...Read more
