Gentian Violet Ringworm
Azole cream better: Gentian violet is an old fashioned, messy, and not very effective treatment for vaginal yeast (thrush) infections. If not professionally diagnosed, see a doctor. If you've had yeast before and symptoms are typical, try an over-the-counter yeast cream; look for active ingredient ending in "azole" (miconazole, teraconazole, etc). Any of these will be more effective and faster than gentian violet. ...Read more

How long does it take for garlic, acidopholis and gentian violet to cure oral thrush? I have no insurance til next year so can't see a doctor!
I have had painless white stuff on back of tongue and swollen taste buds for a few months. I think it is thrush. Will gentian violet cure this?
See a doctor: You also asked about gential violet for vaginal yeast infection. See my reply to that question. Oral thrush is uncommon in otherwise healthy persons. "Painless white stuff" usually isn't yeast (thrush), just a garden variety "coated tongue", which can occur with colds and any number of minor health issues. Don't use GV, which isn't recommended for oral treatment. See a doctor for both problems. ...Read more

Per dr. I'm 30w pregnant, using gentian violet for yeast infection on nipples as well as Monistat 7 cream internally and on nipples. Your pro opinion?
Although gentian violet is effective locally for yeast and has been used in babies for thrush in the past before we had better alternatives, it is a little messy and makes a little coloured mess and can stain the clothes. You are usin Monistat lacally which is more effective and can be used on nipples and in vagina as well.
That is my honest opinion. ...Read more
